another update few parts i received a few days ago.. and since im feeling nostalgic about the A3 though id put up a few dirty pictures of her

TSW Nuburgring 18*8.5 weighing only 6.8 Kgs as i put it up on the scales was quite surprise they are also forged which is a bonus

the back door cards were a PITA to removed which i couldn't to put in the new window switches so i to do it blindly and removed it suffice to say my arm was scratch to kingdom come , but hey job done .. and here are a few picture when i said good bye to her before going to the workshop 7 months and counting (the fog insert is taken off to allow for more air as had the duct there :P

Are you changing any of the engine internals? just wondering because i look on 'revo's site and for their 3071R they dont recommend any engine changes and this would be running what between 425-450?. (stage 4 for A3, st3 for S3)

Im just wondering because alex mentioned the A3 rods not being up to it as much as an S3's, but this is not mentioned from revo.

Basically id like to go BT on my A3 also, but not really after the extra RPM power of it till a later date, and im just wondering if it is nessesary. Maybe alex can help out here xD

Yeah aalex is right u need to change the rods pistons rod bearings and big end bearing... though im changing to ferrea valves +1mm oversize titanium spring and retainrr kit.. oil pump.. and arp bolts.. if u want to go bt.

Also doing the gearbox.. if u read earlier in the thread

If u get a ko4 u dont need to change the internals ull get up too 380bhp but ull need the fuel pump s3/rs4 injectors 3"dp and cat with a map and a ths fmic ull get spool at 2-2.5 rpm as the 3076 sppols at 4 and u get some boost already in the mod 3s

Alex as been great help amazing guy to be honest always willing to help so ur always welcome to ask him or muself about anything matey

Yes it is, just like in the UK... im getting the girdle kit to be safe and soon after still debating extrude honing the manifold and coating ot along with the DP.. but that depends on the funds sadly... ill also make a detailed list and cost of everything uprated, to give members a rough idea.. bit obviously labour rates in the UK are cheaper..

One thing im not too happy about is the boost comes full on at 3.5 rpm i was hopping maybe 3 or 3.2 as you always have to be in the right gear to launch the damn thing hehe.

Only disadvantavge is the cat back will stay stock until the end of year i think but the whole system is 3" including the straight pipe and 100 cell cat..

Also debating getting a dual submerged fuel pump the 044 bosh pumps.. with a manifold to complement it... and possibly some cams from IE

The Bosch 044 can have problems with fuel pickup at low tank volumes, and you may need a swirl pot to get around that.

Otherwise, the USP system I have,or the RS3 pumps should do the job.

Boost will come in higher up,but man, when it does.....

    Sounds like me!

If you want over 550bhp you may max out the injectors and you would need something like the manifold I have in mind.

Ouch now that i didnt plan for.. the indy tells me bugatti injectors would be ace but at a price of 600/injector its an expensive solution as the R8 injectors also arent up to snuff i just want 500 @wheels.. if only the fueling system was similar to to 1.8t

The RS4 injectors are good for around 550 bhp or so maxed out.

The USP fuel system is ok for over 600bhp

The HPA or similar manifolds and an off board controller will give you the extra fuelling.

Don't forget though that even 500 is going to be pretty quick.

I know my aim was the 500awhp... im trying to think what to do.. as i do like the mani uve shown on ur thread but i just believe in the rule of thumb the more parts you have the more likelihood they will break down and all up its over thw 2k $$mark at that stage some bugatti injectors would do the trick without too much to fidle with... doesnt anyone make 2000cc injectors for the fsi's?..

Small update ordered the Girdle kit, a week ago but seems like it will be another week or 2 before i receive it as IE had to actually manufacture it to my order thats gonna delay the build by a month which i didnt foresee either.

besides that another update was getting the PBC Plex Pro boost controller, brillant piece of electronic, it monitors knock, AFR, EGT, Boost, Fuel ratios, Intake Temps having 6 different settings and its compatible with our TFSI engines, not many people have heard of them but they seem to hold their own on GTR 35s and on the Gallardos too

Plex Pro Boost Controller - Automotosports, Inc.

On the upside of things i need to fiddle around with re-registering the dormant Audi get the Tune on after its put together as it will run on actuator pressure for a good 1,000kms to make sure the car is run and run in properly before getting her up to 2 bar boost which will be fun.

Get a Varta battery shockingly $230 (or if anyone can can advise me on a lightweight Battery ..carbon fiber or so im happy to consider)

THS FMIC getting a bargain.. (cant name the source as been asked not to) for £300
and finally go to East Coast Suspension for Corner Weighting and Balancing the Suspension gonna set me back $340 (i hope)

so the build is coming to end from my perspective as i've given all the parts to the indy, and the Tuning CO. i hope to receive her 2 months from the 28th of February around april i hope; that would've meant i've sat without the Audi for an agonizing 10 months which is quite unbelievable i miss that car dearly. in the mean time im driving a Honda HR-V 99 model 1.6 ltr Auto (shocking) but anything is better than no car to be honest (but as with all cars i own IT NEEDS A BLOODY CAM BELT replacement its 10,000kms overdue!)

HOWEVER..... some suspense noise...... im getting a MY10-12 FACELIFT!!! AFTER i get the car back, and need to sell my brand new 07 8P S3 Front bumper and Black ED. S3 grill with new Fogs and grills ... i know im crazy

    If it's lightweight batteries you're after,try here....

Braille Battery USA &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Lighter • Stronger • Faster

Braille produce quite a selection to choose from, but be warned about repeated use in cold weather, and making sure the thing is properly charged.

The cold cranking amperage is good, but may not be up to repeated efforts on cold days.

so i guess its a summer battery.. and use a heavier winter battery as i don't fancy it not starting .. while its not as cold as in the UK it does get to 2-5 Celsius during winter

though must say these battery are LIGHT! they have on USPs' website but sadly they cant ship due to "Security" concerns

There should be a few other more local stockists, and that might be worth pursuing, but you need to lose a lot of weight percentage wise,to make a difference.
The rear seats for instance, are worth around 55-60kgs.

That's not quite what I'm saying.

What I'm getting at is overall capacity.......a traditional heavy lead/acid battery will allow you a good number of attempts at starting a car,and has a lot of capacity for say, sitting with the engine off, radio and A/c on etc.

These don't have quite that amount of reserve, and you don't get something for nothing.

true, and you would also need to start the car every other day keep the charge up or else a jump start is in order no ?

Another Small update: got the PBC pro didnt take long just a week compared to the IE girdle kit that has YET to leave USP due to that bloody God forsaken ice storm.. making me quite the impatient boy as nothing has yet to start UNTIL that damn girdle arrives.. the hope is some time next week but i took some photos for of the PBC pro..

also due to buy some Motul Gear Competition 75w140 GL5.. expensive buggers sadly but needed..

I was intrigued by that statement underlined... seems like my car would be completely illegal to drive under legislation (AUst.) due to everything being done to it.. which makes it even more interesting

everything im doing to the car is illegal including the internals, brakes, PBC pro, boost gauge, LSD, fueling system, CAI.. Aust. is a true nanny state when it comes to car modifying...

as for it to bother me , cops are quite ignorant to the fact that a VAG has a TON of tuning potential they tend to stop the jap cars left right and center.. as far as VAG goes it will fly under the radar.. thats to say that even if i popped the bonnet they wouldn't know what they are looking at anyway

exactly and thats what i love about them.. even when we mod our cars cosmetically we use OEM parts like S3 bumpers.. or changing the interior putting in different steering wheels and the RNSE unlike other brands like BMW or the jap cars you cant do much in that sense and our cars like mint and appealing as hell

as for the mechanical side of things people can put K04 on K03 cars... use different injectors from different Car line ups.. its just great that VAG parts are interchangeable you are so right Alex!

Update Got the Girdle Kit (apparently comes with a 1.8T lump chain driven oil pump and pipe that is more reliable then the 2.0t TFSI according to USP and IE - you learn something new everyday lol) and the Motul Competition 75w140 GL5 , off IE on monday finally the car can proceed with the hop the crank and Transmission are OK i hope..

ive also got some RS3 side skirts, Audi Exclusive Door runners , Audi S3 8P3 Front bumper, RS3 Grill, ballasts and Headlights next week i hope.. and finally order the front radiator support and all brackets etc.. as on Diggz post Cheers Diggz

Just read this whole thread. Can't wait to see the final build. I was just reading over the battery situation, have you sorted it yet? I'm not too sure what your set up is like but i'd probably suggest keeping a normal battery. I've worked with braille batteries before, we had 3 for a small race car and as mentioned, if they're not properly maintained then say bye bye to all that money. From my experience with batteries, the heavier they are the better they are usually. If you're worried about the weight of it, why not run the battery in the boot? The 3.2 v6 has this set up so it should be easy enough to do.

hmm didnt know the 3.2 a3 had this set up... i have discussed this with the workshop but they maintained that, the wiring will weight the car down sadly, and yes i think the braille battery is not going to be an option so sticking to a varta battery for now. Thanks i cant wait either i just hope i keep working haha, im now in the middle of facelifting it but sadly once its done it will end up with the tuner on the dyno for a few days i would assume 2 weeks with the paint shop , 1 day at east coast suspension in NSW to set the car up camber etc.. after i cover my 1,000km on the engine ill will tune it up but should be fun especially on drags; will have lunch control and flat shifting so i hope i will/ can be compared to DSG VAGs out there.. with Australian whether i also decided to ceramic coat the DP , exhaust manifold , and CAI

Not sure if you have zircotec available to u in 'straya, but i was in charge of the exhaust for the race car and it was sent to them to be done. Ours was done in their standard creamy kinda colour but they offer a full range of colours. They sell gold reflective sheeting for the intake which i'd probably be more inclined to go for, mainly because u may find urself changing parts of the intake system if not the whole thing itself. It'd be easier to recoat the intake in gold sheeting as opposed to ceramic coating.

Just to give u a rough idea about the 3.2 battery set up
