Newby - advice on tyres needed

Hello All

I am new to this forum and would like to ask a question on tyres.

Firstly, I have been reading this Forum for ages and good job all of you!

I have a sportback A3 - which I have lowered using some Eibach Sportlines. I currently have BBS Pescara wheels on it with tyre size 225-40-18. I was wondering if I could get a set of 225-35-18s on there?

I mean does it matter how thick the tyre is? I cant afford to upgrade to 19" wheels so I thought reducing the tyre thickness may make the wheels look a bigger?

I'm no expert, but I think that lowering the tyre wall depth without increasing the wheel size will cause your rolling radius to be wrong. This will affect your speedo reading. It'll be off by a little bit. Really, to go to 35 you'd need 19" wheels.

Im sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
