Are all a3 rear shocks the same??? 56 plate 8P

Hi, I have recently had a bad knocking and strange feeling comming from the rear of my car whan cornering or going over bumps/rummble strips. jacked it up and found that the rear shocks are absolutly shagged! So i need to replace them which would be easy if i went to the dealers and bought the parts from them but i want to get the parts and fit them myself. What i need to know is are S line rear shocks the same as Sport rears and standard rears. If you look on GSF or Euro car parts they list the same part number for all 3 when you enter corresponding models of vehicle.

Are they also the same as on a golf or golf gti?

Do they also have system for vin no. to find out the correct one for your car.

I spoke to gsf today and they said that all the rear shocks are the same. Which I don't believe. Surely the sport/slime shocks are valved differently to those on a 1.6 Audi won't give me part numbers either.
