Hi,
I have an Audi A3 Sportback 2.0t s-line 55 plate (2005). Whilst driving home the low oil pressure warning light came on, so I stopped the car immediately and called the AA who towed the car home.
I have asked an independent Audi specialist to run a full diagnostic and measure the oil pressure. No fault codes were found, but the oil pressure was low 2.0 bar and falling at idle and at 2000rpm.
They recommended a new oil pump balance shaft which will cost me an eye watering £1500 for parts and labor.
The car has 170k miles with a full service history, can anyone recommend any cheaper alternatives or is it time to say good bye to the motor.
I have seen ads for companies who will refurb the oil pump shaft for tdi's not sure if they refurb fsi's.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
