Hi All

Been on here for around 2 months and have no done my first mod:)

I was looking at different air intakes for a while and i chose the Revo one due to wanting to go down the revo map way later.

It took a little while to fit as i found putting the clip on the silicone pipe at the back of the engine.

Im loving the noise the turbo is now making and aswell as the dump noise. From inside the car the woosh noise is kinda tired but from out side it sounds the nuts.

Here are some pics :)

Ill go out today and try get some videos. The weather has been really bad at the moment :(

Here is some videos from earlier on today:

I will try get some while driving but the noise is as loud. It actually is kinda quite inside.

Very neat.

If I replaced the ITG,or didn't have it,this would be my first choice.

Very nice indeed!

If I was going to swap out my EVOMS though it would be for the new VWR intake:

This apparently is basically the ITG developed for,and sold by VWRacing.

That's identical to the closed cone ITG I just fitted to mine.

It's nice and quiet and seems to do the job nicely. I am thinking about trying to get on a RR with someone else who has the open ITG filter as it appears that the closed canister and the open G60 shaped filter would be interchangeable. I would like to do one run with the closed cone and one with the open one so we can see on the same car what the difference is. Maybe you can speak to Ben Alex and we can meet up for a coffee!! ;0)

Sounds like a good idea....coffee and cars.

That Revo system looks the kippers tits! Gotta get myself one of those...in fact I think I've just made my New Years Resolution a week early.

Good good you will love it:) I just cant stop driving it now to hear the noise!

The air guide looks better on the revo one plus not bothered about the biscuit barrel looking intake on the vwr/itg one even though i know they produce the figures

looks sooooo good! but i think it would be better if it had heatshield over the exaust manifold and turbo.

did you pick up from a revo dealer or order online if so what site?

Yes it's Christmas day. Yes I am on the forum. Don't judge me!

Just a quick question - can you re-attach the OEM engine cover once you've installed all/any of these intake systems?

Have a great Christmas one and all

Merry Christmas, Yes you can re add the engine cover back on but you have to some changes to it which will not allow you to use the standard air filter again :( people tend to buy the TTS engine cover as that fits well, but they are rare to find.

Sorry guys but I don't know anything about intakers... I know the basic concept of it and what would it be used for, but does it makes any impact to the engine performance as well as MPG!!?!!

I know it may sound weird to some of you, but just wanted to know your opinions and whether to put one or not?!? Worth the money?!?

Cheers :)

That new Revo Air Intake System looks very smart indeed!

I may have to add it to my wish list if it proves to perform significantly better than the ITG Air Intake I currently have fitted to my S3.

If it is noticeably better, it will be interesting to see if independent tuners will be willing to remap cars to a higher figure with the addition of a Revo Intake fitted.

With 25% less restriction, I guess they may be able to squeeze an extra 10/15 bhp out of the engine with a Revo Intake over other more restrictive Intakes...

In speaking to ITG yesterday i was all "I want the most bhp etc" but Andy suggested that it was more about the driveability and realistically how often to i get to use every single one of those horses so is it really worth the £400 odd price tag for that extra (realistcally) 5-10bhp?

I'm just not sure.........

Sorry to hijack but,

is there a CAI that allows the engine cover to go back on as well as I think when I get one that will be a big factor for me. I like the neat look of an engine cover.

You can either cut the std cover down like most do if you want a full CAI, or use the TTS engine cover which is becoming more popular but expensive. Or you can use an uprated filter and intake box like the Carbonio which keeps the original cover etc and adds a bigger intake box and new filter.

I know what you mean, but if you can get an extra 10 or 15 bhp with the Revo Intake, it might be worth selling the ITG Maxogen Intake I have fitted, and paying a little bit more for the new Revo Intake.

Reviews and opinions are needed first of course, but I think it might be worth bearing in mind if it does safely enable you to get more out of the engine...

Just need someone to do a b2b comparison on the same car on the same RR on the same day then! I can fit them and i'm game but need to find some willing donors for each of the kits!

Hi,

What age/reg TTS engine cover is it that fits with the Revo CAI?

Thanks in Advance!

Good post, now anyone got a comparism of this with the ITG? Is it really worth the money 400sheets?! Is this mod required for Stage2+ (REVO)

Thanks

can you get this closed cone from ITG if you have the open version? As I would prefer the cone.

You do need a CAI for Stg2+,as the stock inlet will restrict airflow at that sort of power level and cause misfires.
I have an ITG,but will be trying one of AMDTuning's CAIs which will be cheaper than the ITG,and if it works on mine, then it will work on any S3.

sexy looking thing that! Cant wait to see some tests of the CAI. Hope they will release it soon:]

Ive just been advised by a tuner that a paper OEM filter is better for turbo life. They showed me photos of a turbo pitted by debris, and the only mod to the car was a revo sponge panel filter.
I guess thats money wasted for me then! This would be the recomendation if I went ahead with a bigger turbo and remap etc.

As far as I know,it's just gone on sale now....check AMDTuning's facebook page.

Cheers Alex! Have you fitted it yet any updates? I had a look on their facebook page yeah see pricings for anyone interested

Complete kit £349.95 inc VAT or without the heat shield £299.95.

So that's 70quid cheaper than the REVO CAI kit. Hmm interested to see how it performs!

We will be using these from now on, they are an Auto Specialists product (Airtec) AMD have just got their logo on the filters.

We should have them available shortly.

I am reasonably sure that AMD and Airtec developed it jointly but at least it's available openly,as opposed to the ITG which is essentially a VWRacing product now.
