S3 alloy Mirror 'refurb'... Anyone done it?

So, here's the idea...

I'm having my OE alloys refurbed next year probably in shadow chrome.
I like the wheels but not the colour, as my S3 is black I want to darken them
down a bit but still keep them kinda silver.

I was thinking of getting the same place to do my mirror casings in the same finish.
Has anyone else done this and if so any pics please.

I was more interested in whether someone had done the mirrors,
I was originally thinking of vinyl wrapping them but I thought the 'refurb'
would look nicer and a bit more OE
I have an idea of how the wheels will look already thanks to photoshop.

mate those are not original S3 mirrors... i had my original black ones resprayed to match the colour of the alloys and the grill, also had the front lip and rear diffuser sprayed too

S3 mirrors arent alloy they are painted plastic arent they

I'm pretty sure they are alloy, they always feel as cold to the touch as the bodywork
As far as I know it's one of the special details that set the S3 apart from the other A3
variants like the oval exhausts. they may be alloy coated plastic but there's definitely
a metallic quality to them and they aren't just painted I'm sure of that.

S3 mirrors are plastic sprayed silver. I had a set on mine which I took off to sell as they were prone to getting nicked.

Only the 8L S3 mirrors were proper metal.
