To do or not to do S3 remap

    Hi people.
    S3 finally arrived
been driving it for a day did a 25miles journey this morning in return I have got 28mpg
I have searched through about fuel economy between a remap s3 and a standard s3 for but not much luck
so lets put the power figures a side / will a remap improve fuel economy ?

Thank you for your input peeps

Nah not really, it's very marginal.

Slighty better maybe on an Eco run but probably worse than standard when flat out.

back to the power : I felt slightly strange when i am driving in 5th but want a bit more power so I have put my foot down abit more and expect to pick up some speed but nothing really happens unless I thump it all the way down probably a remap can solve this problem aswell ??

Dude it's an S3 not RS4 with a supercharger lol!
Remap will remove some of the lag and it will totally transform the car.
You should buy a diesel if you are worried about fuel economy!
The MOD BUG is gonna bite you soon

S3 is not very rapid on the higher gears dude. Remap will give it extra punch on top of that bear in mind S3's turbo starts spooling up around 2500k below that there is a big deep hole of darkness and nothingness:]

    Unhappy

Having recently bought my second S3, my last four cars were diesel. I have real problems with the fuel economy at present.
Takes a bit of getting used to! £300 in the first month
Typically two thirds of the diesel Passat on mpg and the f***ing oil companies bleeding us dry....grrr!
BUT - when I floor that throttle, feel the acceleration, handling and get the hairs standing up on the backs of my arms....there's NO going back!!
The car and its performance actually make you feel more alive

My other ride - "Discus" Glider -164mph and @ 1 mile high will glide for 43 miles. No turbo, in fact no engine

Like everyone else has said.....do it.

You won't regret it,and it goes some way to making the car what it should have been in the first place.

What kind of mileage are you doing?I have recently brought my S3 and find the mpg quite reasonable for what the car is.
As someone said its a bit short of puff in 5th&6th,but in all honesty you dont buy an S3 for economy runs..

Economy will improve, and when it's mapped it'll pull a lot better in 5th.

Mine has a Stage 1 Shark remap and I get better fuel economy as well as strong pull in 5th/6th, so either I am lucky or my car is a freak !! I regularly get 4 or 5 miles further for every gallon ( and no, I don't drive it like a wimp ) and the pull in the higher gears still surprises me one year after the remap was done....admittedly it felt a bit anaemic before the remap, but since it was done it is fantastic.

As the others have said......DO IT !!!!! I put it off for a year and have regretted it ever since as it transforms the car and makes it more exciting and more driveable.

Best thing to do is to try something like Revo's trial remap and see if you like the results, before making up your mind.....others will offer the same sort of trial as well, and it may help you decide.

Yh stage 2 is a different story to stage 1 In my point of view
stage 1 hopefully will help to solve my problems out a little but modding bugs is there teasing me to do it
so I will probably do it when my car cover 5000miles

Around 20K per year work and leisure. Currently the best I have managed on a 125 mile trip was 34.1MPG but I was driving like a fairy to achieve that
Typically I get 30-32 at motorway speeds.
My old Passat 130 TDi would give me 53mpg on the same run and that had clocked 221,000 miles when I sold it!! Awesome engine.
I didnt buy the S3 for economy runs, I just couldn't turn it down

Definitely do it mate. Economy didn't change much but it does make a difference to pull, especially in higher gears.

I do find the economy pretty good in comparison to the power. I take it a bit easier on the motorway now but give it a good blast on the a roads and generally get 31mpg. However tonight when I got back it was 34.2!

I am going over to the derv side next though and will really miss the S3 but time for a change and although as said the economy is good for this sort of car doing over 20k per year does cost a fortune!

Mine has pretty huge torque figures which may help but 29mpg from a 500bhp engine isn't bad.

If you hoof it it'll do a lot less of course. Lol
