There is a group buy over on Briskoda for anyone interested:
The prices are as follows, including delivery, which are significantly under RRP:

(Remember this is a genuine UK unit, not a foreign unit with flashed English firmware. There are loads of these units which are floating about at the moment which can cause over heating problems and unit failures, have seen a couple of these on eBay. You can usually tell them apart as they are substantially cheaper! The RRP of this camera is still £209. If you were to ever have a problem then you know we will be there to help you!)

(Please note - Paypal cannot be accepted with this amazing deal)

Of course we can honour it :)

We have already sold a couple of them! Artimus is one of them. You add the camera to the basket, apply the code at checkout and it will go through :)

Shipping is free!

Can't drop the installation as its fixed and we've already massively discounted the cost of the camera.

Excellent things. Have had one for years and caught many close shaves.

Also lost count of how many times I've been pulled over by the Police and accused of this that and the next thing until I say I've got an in car camera so we can sort it in court.

Your Camera has just been sent so should be with you in a day or two! Plenty of time to make something up to tell the misses!
Great, can't wait! I think I'll take your advice and not mention it - until she notices, then I'll say what she always does when I notice her new shoes, "I've had it Aaaages" :icon_thumright:

Could tell her your Insurance company suggested to get one. "Oh yes sir, it will help save you money in the long run".

Then say you will have some extra money in the future to spend on her!

:ninja:

All booked in for Jan - driving down from the Midlands (as have seen the quality of their work). At this price couldn't say no especially with the amount of bad drivers out there!

The guys were really helpful on the phone and will also look into whether they can install integrated parking sensors to replace the massive ones that audi. Should be able to if the holes underneath are not too large.

Looking forward to seeing them!

Mine arrived today! Thanks Cruiser.

I've already fitted it temporarily & been out for a test drive! unbelievable clarity! Even at twilight this thing sees better than I do. I actually videoed myself kerbing a wheel - first time in years! but I'm not too bothered as I intended to get them refurbished next spring anyway.

I'll probably be ordering the power magic come the new year to finalise the kit, don't want to risk running my battery flat. Been messing with the sensor settings as it records almost everything from steady acceleration, to taking large roundabouts at normal speeds, as an Event by default and needs a little fine tuning! I'll spend the next couple of days testing & retesting the settings until they're spot on.

Overall, I'm chuffed with it. :icon_thumright:

what is "power magic" ?

Power Magic Pro - it monitors your battery voltage and automatically shuts off the camera if necessary to prevent it draining your battery if left for long periods of time. It works when the car is parked up and the ignition is switched off - it allows you to leave your camera running in "Parking Mode" so it will pick up and bumps or movements that occur when you've left your car unattended (perfect for Tesco carparks!)

Glad you like it pal!! Get some pics of where you've put it along with some videos!

In regards to the sensitivity, it's all about the settings. Jameze popped something up on page 1 on what he did!

When you want the Power Magic just give me a shout :)

For all those wondering about how you playback the video and change the settings, this video will give you an idea! Change it to 1080p so you can see the detail!

Just wanted to add my name to the growing list of happy camera users. Took advantage of the discount and ordered a camera + power magic pro on Tuesday evening, delivered on Thursday and fitted this afternoon in about 30 minutes.

Installation was pretty easy but I thought I'd add a couple of notes for anybody looking to do it later:

I went tight to the very top of the windscreen with the camera and the only tricky thing is positioning it so it can't see the bracket on the rear view mirror. I'd read to look out for this in other posts and I've still ended up with the bracket just visible in the corner of the videos (which is not a huge issue). The camera needs to be well over to the left with the edge of the camera a couple of inches past the edge of the mirror.

Running the cable was simple enough - yank the trim off the drivers side pillar (pull out and then up) then poke the wire up from the fuse box, behind the airbag and then just tuck into the headlining until you get to the camera.

The instructions for the Power Magic Pro suggest using the Cigar lighter fuse for the switched supply but on Audi's (well on my S3 anyway) this seems to be permanently live so isn't suitable. It's actually surprising how many of the circuits are live with the ignition turned off - I went through about 5 options before I found one I could use! Anyway, I ended up using the Rear Heated Screen for the switched supply (Red wire) and Interior Lighting for the permanent supply (yellow wire).

Another thing to watch out for is the cigar jack socket connection was a poor fit on mine and came out after a couple of minutes - I just held the jack and socket together and wrapped electrical insulating tape round to stop this from happening.

The power magic pro ended up installed like this:

Everything seems to work as expected - as others have said you need to turn the sensitivity right down or every large bump in the road gets treated as an "Event" (actually in an S3 just stamping on the accelerator is apparently an "Event"!). Apart from this the default options seem to work very well and the PC software is very easy to use and well designed.

My sensitivity axis are all set to max level and I still get events through normal driving (but not too many) I have normal record on anyway so it doesnt really matter! Normal record and parking mode is all that matter to me, I now have 2x 16gb cards and expect to swap them out every sunday to ensure I back up any "evidential" funnies that may come handy. On putting the new card in today and checking my vids on the other, i noticed a parking event in the middle of the night, the car opposite mine (BMW saloon) just popped its boot open in the middle of the night and the owner closed it and set off to work in the morning scratching his head!!!!!!!! Things you would normally miss heh!

Looking good

I was surprised the cigarette lighter was permanent too, I didn't expect that (I inadvertently left the camera in "Parking Mode" when I first got the camera prior to installing the PMP).

I too was very surprised at just how many seem to be permanent! I think for mine I ended up going for "Electrical socket in luggage compartment" for my permanent supply, and "Sun roof / Convertible roof" for the switched supply. Used the same earthing point :)

I'm not sure if it was necessary but I stuck a 5A in-line fuse onto both my wires just to be on the safe side.

Haha tell me about it - it even records me accelerating hard in my 140 TDI as an "Event". Definitely worth a tweak of the settings to get the sensors right!! :racer:

I'm not sure if everyone knows (the information is a bit misleading on the internet as some say 16GB max, some say 32GB max) but I'm currently using this 32GB card with no issues...

Can't hurt, I was thinking of getting a couple of fuse taps but I'm not sure that they will fit, in-line fuses may be the way to go.

That's what I was originally going to do (didn't fancy splicing any wires to install it behind the fuse box as some do) but then wasn't sure how fuses work on the fuse taps. Didn't know if they needed to match the fuse that was being tapped into or if they could be any size (5A tapped into a 30A fuse for example). In the end my limited knowledge of everything electrical just led me down the path of just shoving some spade connectors into the empty fuse slots and (hopefully) protecting the lines with a 5A in-line fuse. As long as it works :)

Received in record time considering the Xmas rush very happy would recommend any day thanks.

I'm very interested in this piece of kit.

Looking at the 380 with large sd card and the power kit.

Who fits them? I'm Bristol based and would like a tidy job.

What would the total price be with the asn discount?

hey bud.

Well the camera is £170 till the end of the year with the forum discount.

The Power Magic Pro is £39.90.

The 32gb Micro SDHC card is £27.90. This is a Samsung class 10.

If you want installation it is £79. We will use a guy from our nationwide team that is local to you in Bristol. This ensures you get a proper job / install done. You are of course free to use an engineer or specialist that you know of.

Cheers, Tim

with the power magic pro is it easy to install yourself?

I managed it and I'm not very savvy with things like that so if I can, anyone can.

You literally just need to pop the fuse panel off, attach the ground to a bolt, put some spade connectors on the end of the two other wires and plug them into a spare permanent fuse and a spare ignition fuse. Figure out which is which using a test lamp or multimeter to see which fuses always have power to them and which only have power when the ignition is on. Simples!

I nipped to Maplin and bought some in-line fuses and put a 5A fuse on each line just to be on the safe side. This is what I used to install the PMP / in-line fuses...

In-line fuse:
Splashproof Blade Fuseholder : Car Fuses : Maplin Electronics

Fuses of course:
Blade-Type Fuses : Car Fuses : Maplin Electronics

Spade connectors:
‘Lucar’ Male Connector : Crimp Terminals : Maplin Electronics

Push-on blade covers:
‘Lucar’ Covers : Crimp Terminals : Maplin Electronics

The gauge of the PMP wire vs the in-line fuse wire is quite a big difference (the PMP is very thin) so I used some heat shrink which I had lying about. I used the smaller heat shrink to wrap the PMP wire to make it a little thicker, I then soldered and heat shrunk (with the larger heat shrink) the two wires together. I hope that makes sense! Electrical tape will be just as efficient though.

Hey Bud,

There is always one person but I just stumbled across this post now as I identified the BlackVue probably the best model on the market.

Will this offer come about again?

edit - how important is it to also have the power magic pro? Has any of your research suggested without this the car battery gets heavily drained?

Also can this camera be setup so that it ONLY records when driving? (ignition on) and the rest of the time it is off.

imo - if I get it I ought to get the power magic pro, as the drain on the battery would worry me.

Apparently the drainage is very minimal. I have the PMP installed and set to switch off when the voltage drops to below 11.8v and it's never switched it off, even when left in Parking Mode for a couple of days. That would suggest to me it's not draining that much power and reaching the threshold.

The PMP comes with a switch to turn off the parking mode feature (so the camera will turn on and off with the ignition). If that's what you want though, I'd be tempted to snip the cigarette lighter charger off the end and just hardwire it straight into the fuse panel (find a fuse which only has power supplied to it when the ignition is on). There would be no chance of draining the battery then as it would only turn on with the ignition, plus you'd save yourself £40 on a PMP if you're not bothered about operating "Parking Mode".

Thanks that makes sense what fuse do u reckon could be used?

Not really that competant on fuses and putting in wires lol
Will ask my mate

For my ignition source I used Fuse 33 - "Sun roof / Convertible roof". Check your fuse table on the back of the fuse panel cover - yours might be different. Any will work if you can find one that's only live when the ignition is switched on (use a test lamp or multimeter). I went with Fuse 33 as it was empty because I don't have a sun roof so just used a spade connector on the end of the wire.

I just found this video looks okay:

How to hardwire a dash cam onto your car with the power kit - Blackboxmycar.com - YouTube

except in my case I need to find a fuse that doesn't have any power in when the vehicle ignition is turned off
this looks "doable" but wouldn't do it without said mate.
