S3 Brake pads - are they worn?

How can I tell if my brake pads are worn down. (8P3)

Im not overly impressed with the braking performance, and I think it must be down to worn pads.

How often do people usually change theirs?

And do you all have a preference to an upgrade of pad that is also quite long life.

A pretty cave-man style basic test would be to have a look at the gap between caliper and disk. If that gap is too small to get your little finger in then the pads are reasonably worn!

I didnt mention. Its done 19,000 miles and I dont think they have been changed

Should last more like +30k miles.

Oh really? That seems like a long time, because I presume the car will have been driven hard at some point.

They do seem effective with some pressure but they lack the initial bite that I would have expected

all makes and model of parts are not equal. If in doubt . change them mate.

Mix of opinions on performance pads. Some like Ferodo DS2500, others like EBC yellows, but some just go for a full disc pad upgrade!
