lost key and no spare...advise please!!

Ok humble face on! I stand corrected I apologise! All I can say in my defence is I phoned round a lot when I lost my keys and no one could sort it other than Audi same story everywhere.. So maybe mine is different I don't know.. But good shizzle for getting it done and no week wait times 😃

Hi I have a 2004 a3tdi which came with the 3 button flip remote key fob. I only ever had one key for it since i bought the car and now disaster i have lost my key. Done some searching on google and seems to be that audi or independent key specialists can replace the key and reprogram again. Before i go phoning around in the morning i would just like to ask something.
It says on the websies that they can open the car and program a new key but cant seem to see anything about how they are going to cut the actual key so that it fits my existing locks/ignition bearing in mind that i dont have a spare.

can anyone with any knowledge on this please explain and meanwhile i will pray that im not going to have to replace locks/barrel as well as the key!!!

thanks

i feel ur pain, I just lost my Audi key and bought all the equipment to reprogram a new audi key (what an expensive waste of my time)...here is my fix-i bought an unprogrammed key from dealership with vin nmbr)... removed windshield wipers and pulled out the ecu ( ask utube), went to ebay and plugged in the number on the top of removed ecu, got one from audiparts4you (he called and set me up) and got it three days later, plugged it in and car, it started right up, test drove it and accidentally ripped the tires Thu an intersection in second gear ( i elected to buy more powerfull one for my tt-)....lmao...
total cost :
$70 for unprogrammed key from dealership
$250 for the modded ecu ($100 core refunded back)
--------------
my total cost: $220 dollars and my cars runs better, alot better...

alot better than the $700 and all the plus selling of other broke item on my car from dealer, haha my money stayed in the usa...

In order not to encounter such problems, you should take care of a spare key in advance. A spare key should be for all things that are locked.

Wow. Thank you for those words of advice on a 5 year old thread
