    Talking Newbie

    Hi Guys,

I'm new to the scene here and I'd like to first and foremost say that I will be getting an Audi A3 within the next coming month.
I haven't decided which engine to go for yet, as my age prohibits me from getting something mouthwatering. I have been looking around the internet and seen a few 1.9TDIe's and some 2.0TDI's.

I have a question for everyone of you Audi hungry turbo heads - is there any reason why you would choose a 1.9TDI over the 2.0TDI or vice versa?

I've heard the 1.9TDI lacks refinement but they seem to be much more cheaper than the 2.0TDI.

My wish list is as follows -
    Audi A3
    Ibis White
    1.9TDI/2.0TDI
    Sport model
    3 Door
    Bose Sound System

    Thanks!

You'd choose 1.9tdi if you wanted to save on fuel costs.

The 2.0TDI is by far the better of the 2 engines and that comes in either a 140 or 170 version. Both 140 and 170 are good engines and are both easily mappable to give you more power. All depends on what you want. Have a look at other threads comparing the two 2.0TDI versions. Whichever one you go for you'll enjoy the experience and you have a wealth of knowledge on this forum if your after any advice.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum, I agree with brodster on this, also depends on your budget and insurance I went for the 1.9tdi for my first a3 at 19 simply because it was good on fuel and the insurance was a lot cheaper than the 2.0tdi seeing as I was 19, ran it for nearly 4 years good car then when insurance went down for me it was time for something faster and better equipped anyway hope this helps

    Thanks for the replies all.
Just to throw a spanner in the works; I will be financing the car as I only have a budget of about 5k at the moment. I will be taking another 5k on finance and paying it off over 3 years (approx.).

I no doubt will be seen more around this forum, hopefully with some fresh wheels for you all to take a peek at!

Cheers for the feedback. I am 21 also, Jack. I will have 3 years no claims and a clean licence - so fingers crossed they'll be easier on me! haha

Okay guys, here is the deal, I'm viewing a car on Friday. I obviously will be looking to play hard ball when it comes to negotiation. If I really, really like the car, I'll have to keep this to myself and seem like I'm not bothered.

What would you guys pay for this kind of spec, and is there anything you can point out to me that I can use for negatives to bring the price down.

    Thanks in advance, (link below).
