hi im a little confussed

i have a 2006 a3 sportback 3.2 v6 and wandered do i need to have a haldex oil and filter change at 40k or do i have a 2nd generation haldex unit which is sealed for life?

They all require oil changes at 40k, from mid 2010+ they claim "lubed for life" (in the same way that RMS Titanic was unsinkable).

According to Audi, Gen 4 doesn't have a filter change, but still needs an oil change.
You can buy a Gen4 filter kit yourself: Haldex Gen 4 Filter Replacement Kit

Yours at MY2006 will probably be Gen 2, so needs the special filter tool.

Yes you will need a oil and filter change on a 2006 car. How many miles has yours done?

Change needs to be done at 38k miles.
Cost for this on a 2009 car (does not need filter) was £44 incl parts labour and VAT.

I had mine done by an Audi specialist and it was £72 that was for the oil and filter

Thanks for the reply guy's, the car has just done 41k the car says service due in 43 days or 4500 miles? I heard oil was £15 for it but can't the correct one on eBay and the kits on eBay are around £40-£50 ?

Does that mean there is no filter or they think it will last forever? I'd have thought replacing the filter and putting new oil in would be pretty good practice...

At £100, they are having a LAUGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crazy money as I said mine was 72 quid I think the kit to do it filter and oil is roughly 45 quid so that's some labour charge for what is tops a 30 min job

Did they even replace the filter in that video?

The oil goes in the way it came out i.e. through the sump plug?? What a **** design!

can sombody get me a direct link to buying the haldex oil and filter for a 2006 3.2

my heads burst sombody on another forum has said i may have a generation 2 haldex unit ? is this not a common DIY job

Audi Lincoln quoted £66 all in for the oil change. Think filter on older cars costs about £13.
So clearly some dealers are whacking up the price. i.e. a 20min job been charged out at 1hr min labour. oucha!!!

Perth Audi, Camerons... that sort of money, you could have an s_tronic oil change, which takes longer and actual oil costs about £75.

On never cars, there is a separate drain and fill plug.
