Hi All,

Some donkey drove into the back of my 2009, Red A3. It's minor damage, but he's paid me to get it resprayed.

However, I've heard all sorts of horror stories regarding resprays on red cars.

I am going through an Audi approved spray place.

Is there any risk of the colour not matching? It's only three years old...

Tom.

Of course, depends who's painting it. At the end of the day if it doesn't match you simply return and say paint it again until it matches! Audi Approved BS should be ok though, don't worry!

it's just gotta be blended right.

I.e some attention has to be paid to the panels that weren't damaged near the new ones, say in this case the rear quater panels to carefully mix the new and old colours together.

Cheers for the input fellas.

Basically, he's drawn a nice black line horizontally down my entire rear bumper. So it's a bumper respray job - no blending required?

If the whole bumper is painted it may well need blending into the quarter panels to hide any colour mismatch. I had a new bumper and bonnet on a car a while back and they blended it into the wings for good measure.

Okay, cheers mate. I'll speak with them regarding methods when I book it in.

Also have a red A3 that needs some paint work attention, do they strip the old paint off or just spray over? I have some areas where the whole paint layer is lifting off.
