hi all, i need transport to take my bikes to and from the tracks etc, after selling my van for my s3 im stuck how to go for a play on my bikes but cant get them any where,

i dont want tow bar sticking out 24/7 can you have hide away ones or tempery ones,

Many thanx.

Haldex overheats.

However you can stick a cycle rack on or the like.

Im sure light weights would be ok, but insurance will probably be void as this quattro system isn't supposed to be towing, so not recommended

This is shocking to read... Would my 2L TDI 8P BKD 2006 be ok to toe? Say a medium caravan? It's Quattro.

the rule applies to all the quattros in the 8p range I believe. someone correct me though.

Check your V5.

my S3 states no towing figures.

Usually it will say the weights allowed. whether unbraked or braked.

Also check handbook.

Hmm. My v5 says

1600 braked
750 unbraked.

Guessing then the limitation is the haldex sys. then?

interesting....you'd have thought they would have beefed up the haldex in the S3 version as they'd get abused alot more!

i suppose torque plays a major part, good y'old soot chuckers.

that's for a 2.0 litre diesel my friend.

So I've just checked both 3 V5C in our house for Audi A3's, 1.6 Petrol FWD, 2.0TDI 140 FWD, 2.0TDI 170 Quattro.. They all stat on them a braked and unbraked towing wieght..

So you can tow with a Quattro I guess then???
