Dont really need a big intercooler for K04. Something that fits in the original position will suffice if you're worried about heat soak.

Add a HPFP to your list.

Probably looking at around 350bhp tops with a K04 tune and supporting mods. Plenty for FWD Not sure if K04 is stage 3 with Revo?

For pricing, have a look at some of the performance websites such as APR, Awesome GTI, ECS Tuning, DBC Performance, CTS Turbo, BSH etc.
You might find that its a better proposition to just buy an early 8P S3.

Had a Look at the Revo website and its an either or option with the A3 eith KO4 or bigger if you want Revo stage 3. stage you will have to look at changing some internals and ****.... but thanks not really looking for a massive intercooler just something with more flow and keeping the temps down.

Also heard that Aqua mist water meth system also....

A swap to an S3 might be a good option as the engine and turbo are good for up to 360-380bhp without changing.

Of course you would need the exhaust,HPFP , intake and software which would set you back around £2.5k

At that sort of power you would need the suspension and brakes uprated as well.

The unfortunate thing is that either way,360bhp is going to cost quite a bit.

Forgot to say....a big intercooler comes hand in hand with more flow and to be honest, the THS,ProAlloy and Airtec are not physically much larger but do have much better flow.

I would not really bother with water/meth unless you're going for really big power and have already done the engine brakes and suspension.

do not really want a S3 I want the 2.0t and want to beat the RS3 and TT-RS... but thanks for the help....

I am looking to get the maximum power without changing the internals... and still want to drive it daily tall order I know.

suspension wise I have KYB coiloveres with Eibach struts... tyres are going to be swapped to a set of Lambo Gallardo reps 19 inches..

Hi Aubrey, Personally i think you are better of going for the S3, u can whack all the turbos in the world to the A3, but you dont have 4WD, your going to struggle big time for traction mate, ive got a 2.0 t aswell which is mapped to 253bhp, 1st gear u can forget about in the wet and dry for that matter , and by that time the RS3 would be a long way off . just my opinion

ok Jonny what has been done to ur A3?

was looking now I could also try and fit a short shifter and a limited slip diff its more of a fun toy then a racer... was looking at between 250-300hp is that possible with the mods I have in mind?

I appreciate the help guys...

I would think you can get close to that sort of power but an LSD like the Quaife is going to be in the region of a grand when fitted.

It is worth adding all the costs up first and comparing to say an S3 of maybe 4-5 yrs.

My A3 2.0T is running on a Stage 1 remap and was RR'd at 253bhp (same as Jonny). Its a quick car, 0-60 in 5.9s, but by god, not going for a Quattro was the worst decision I've ever made... pushing it hard and even simple overtakes can sometimes be scary just because of the torque and power going through the front wheels.

I think you know what I'm going to say... get an S3 :)

Just a remap, which is plenty trust me, any more power then its a waste of time and money without 4wd im afraid, mines even foresale on pistonheads purely bcoz i want 4wd and more power which for me is an S3, dont get me wrong @ 253bhp its quick and suprises most cars which is great, but you will never compete with rs3 in 2.0t im afraid,

I agree with this, no point going for so much power if you'll struggle for grip whilst moving off. I think this is the most logical explanation anyone can ever give :)

:iagree: I totally agree with the points made above. No point in going for overly big power on a fwd. All its going to do is sit stationary with the wheels spinning going nowhere fast except for the local tyre shop to replace the tyres!

I have a 2.0tfsi too, which has a stage 1 map and agree with others that it is more than enough on a fwd car. I think it is on its limits with power/grip, whilst still being driveable.

I Agree also with the above but if your mind is made up and you don't want an s3 then why not get rid of the fwd and get a 2.0 t Quattro instead, I've got a 2.0 tfsi Quattro and I've owned fwd a3's before and let me say after having Quattro you will never go back trust me you just can't beat that planted feel.

thanks guys but the thing here is that I do not want an S3... when you pull up at a light and you race a RS3 in an S3 and you win it will be impressive but nothing exceptional... i think I will look into getting an A3 2.0T Quattro that way I can still get the effect I want...

thanks for the tips and hints much appreciated....

get an s3 and pov spec it, use the money from the bumpers/wheels/seats etc for more power

Sorry but without spending £15k you are not going to beat a RS3 which does 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds!
A 2.0t a3 fwd has a book time of 7 seconds need a hell of a lot of money spending on it.
I own a 2.0t quattro A3 so it is planted but if I was you I would buy a S3 engine and fit it in your car instead of going the turbo upgrade route the power gains will be easier to come by:thumbsup:

I'd stick to K03 on a FWD A3. You can put all the power in the world in it and it won't be able to put it down on the tarmac so even if there is more power there than an RS3 or TTRS, they will still leave you standing.

Whilst I see what you mean by going for the sleeper look, it would be more economical to buy an S3 and make it look like a standard A3.

Thanks Guys but finding an S3 in Windhoek is going to be a hassle i think I will stick to finding a Quattro rather... it's easier to find....

but thanks for the advise guys I do appreciate it allot will upload some pics soon need to get the wheels back though.

You might find the US boards are more comprehensive as a source of information for tuning the 2.0T, since they don't have the S3.

As others have said, an S3 makes a stronger and logical starting point...but only if you have access to one. What it also points to (as you have said) is the K04 turbo conversion, which is personally what I would do. I looked into this when considering mod'ing my much loved old 2.0T quattro and came to the conclusion that I'd probably need:

- K04 conversion (as detailed on sites such as Awesome GTi)
- Induction
- Turbo-back exhaust
- Bigger brakes
- ECU flash / software
- Clutch
- Suspension (optional, depending on the base car?)

That lot will cost in the region of £7,000 in the UK if someone does the work for you.

I would also urge considering a quattro as the base car (you don't say if yours is?), which would help a lot with putting the power down. In the end, you will have something that is highly personalised and very much a "Q-car" - but you will have to go futher to get something that would be quicker than a Stage 2 S3...let alone an RS3.

I found that getting my 2.0T quattro up to the above spec was going to cost more than buying a nearly-new S3 over the life of the car. The main thing you have to consider when comparing the costs of a modified car to a standard one is that the modified car will be worth only the same as the base spec (or possibly slightly more if it's a specialist car, which to be fair an A3 isn't).
