Hi Everyone,

I've just had my central locking fault checked and it's came back with a fault code of "01030" = Central Locking Key Switch Driver Side Lock: Implausible Signal.

The only symptoms I've got is that the remote central locking doesn't work at all (key fob batteries have been checked). So the only way to get into the car is manually - and this only works if you turn the key twice left, and then twice right. I've only had the car a week so I have no idea how old this fault is. Apart from that the immobiliser and alarm all work fine.

If it helps diagnoise the fault further the central locking button inside the drivers door works perfectly well.

So my question is what's my next step in solving this problem? Where do I start, what would you do? Ross Tech suggest that I do the following:

Check Door Contact Switch Driver's Door
  • Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
Check Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Driver Side (F220)
Check Key Switch Driver's Door
  • Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)

However without sounding dim - this means nothing to me. Can someone help?

The car in question is a 2005 A3 8P 3 Door 2.0l TDI

You need someone in your area with VCDS to check MVB's.

Check VCDS User Map on this forum for someone in your area that could help.
