S3 8P (58) Anti Roll Bar bush creak/knock?

Hi folks, hope you're all well.
I started to get a rubber creaking about 6-8 weeks ago near my feet whilst rocking the steering wheel, then developed into a bit of a twangy knock under the front end.
I got the rack etc checked out and they reckon it's anti roll bar bushes that have gone.
Now I thought that bushes were pretty cheap, easy to fit jobs but the garage geezer said that now the anti roll bar for my car has a modified design so I have to change the whole bar/bushes which he can get for £180.

Is he trying it on or has anyone else had the same issue?

I don't mind getting it done but if it's just a bush change it'll be less than half that amount.
