Tyres for A3 2.0Tdi Sport

I've noticed that the current front tyres on our A3 2.0 TDi Sport (04 reg) are nearly shot at 18,500 miles.

The car (from new) came with Pirelli Rossos (not sure if they are the "extra load" model).

Any recommendations for replacements? Looking at Ł125 ish each for the same tyre.

Saw an advert for Toyos (Ł96 each) local to us - the Civic Type R (my car) forum has good things to say about Toyos - anyone here tried them?

Toyo's aren't bad when new but they where quite quickly and with a few miles on em aren't that good in the wet. How keen a driver are you? If you like to use a bit of lift of over steer then the Toyo's may be a bit too snappy for you. Personally I am going to swap mine out for the good year eagle F1's.

I was thinking about the Toyos as well, after all the praise the get from the CTR forum. Not too sure now after coments from here. They are Ł81.50 each including VAT and p+p from www.mytyres.co.uk

I'm gonna plump for the F1's as well. They were awesome on my FTO.

I've got PS2s at the moment and the grip is absolutley phenomenal. But they're fekin noisy so was going to swap out to F1s when the time comes. That being said, I don't really know that F1s will be any quieter....

The R32 was a heavy car and went through tyres like a bear eats toffee (well thats my excuse) and on this one (the A3) I'm assuming it is because the pirelli's are soft and that 2 ltr lump is heavy...

I had my pzero nero's out in all the rain yesterday no problems at all. Easily as good as the F1 s I had before, no aquaplaning even when you hit a puddle. I'd take grip -wet and dry - over wear rate any day.

I dont actually thing the nero's are that grippy compared to the f1's (as good maybe but not better) and the wear rate is scary - I think I'll get 9K out of my fronts. This is a bit too excessive for me as I do around 25K.

Will probably stay with the Pirrelli Rossos. Can get them for around Ł95 fitted from t'internet.

Car is being serviced as we speak and I've asked the dealer to give me a quote.

    Could be:

Re: Tyres for A3 2.0Tdi Sport

Don't know if I should start another thread for this next question? Anyway, here goes:

Looking for Michelin PS2s, 225/45/17, my local shop quoted 270Euros a piece. on 123pneus.com, the same tire, same load rate etc, is quoted at 160Euros. Now, do you think they are indeed the exact same, or could one be made in a different country, with different compounds?

    TIA guys and gals.
