Evening all.

First post :) with an exhaust problem on my new 07 plate S3 :-(

Used to have a 2002 BAM S3 and decided to get rid of it when there were severe bottom end issues. Went to a local specialist though, so it's in a good home and has had the engine rebuilt.

Great excuse to persuade the wife that it was a good idea to buy an 07 plate. Got the keys in the middle of June, and the exhaust sounded a little throaty when I bought it (from a friend), and he did mention that I should look into it and let him know to come to some kind of compromise.

My brother is a mechanic at Toyota, and had a quick look on Sat lunchtime when he finished.

The problem is a hole in the front section flexi pipe which he's patched up best he could. This splits into 2 near the sensor, one side has the flexi pipe, the other has the box.

MOT isn't until February, but I'm wondering what my options are?

Can I cut out and put a modified pipe in? If so, anyone know if there's standard replacement options out there?
Do I need a new front section?!
Do I need to be worried at all?

My brother suggested that some keen driving and acceleration (once the weather fairs up a considerable bit!) may stretch his patch up job and the hole will eventually reappear and grow worse.

Any help would be greatly received.

Cheers.
