Have been having a minor fluctuating idle issue. Sounds like a slight miss and revs drop a little every 10 seconds or so.
Am getting the following fault codes: P2187, P0441, P3138, P2008

I reset fault codes and the CEL returned after 100kms approx. Car has done 109,000kms (65,000miles or so).
I am running a stock map as I want this fixed before tuning.

Have replaced the following in last 1000kms.

1. Updated to OEM rev D diverter valve
2. Deleted PCV with BSH PCV Fix
3. Replaced spark plugs & coil packs (both OEM)

I have googled these fault codes and it points to these parts:
06E906517A - EVAP Purge Valve
06F133482E - Variable Intake Manifold Adjusting Solenoid

I guess my question before I replace parts blindly is: Has anyone else had similar issues? What caused it and what fixed it?
If I replace those parts are my problems likely to be fixed? I am potentially talking about two seperate issues here, as I have no idea if those parts with the fault codes are causing the idle fluctuation or if its possible carbon buildup on valves and therefore possibly unrelated to the Purge valve and the intake adjusting solenoid.

Yes, unplug the MAF to see if performance changes. If it does then it's likely MAF is faulty.
Could be the intake manifold solenoid if all gunged up with oily residue.

Have you checked the MAF?

Sorry, forgot to mention that. Yes it has been checked - replaced with a new one to see if there was a change. No change.

The idle issue isnt THAT bad and has improved since I had a cylinder 2 misfire and replaced all the coil packs a few weeks ago.
Its a new set of fault codes now and I am simply wanting a car that idles nicely like it has just been driven off the showroom floor.

What is the process to clean injectors on an FSI?

To clean the injectors you can lob a can of BG44k in the tank... I've never been one to vouch for chemicals.. I think the best way is for a good old fashioned clean out by taking things apart and doing it... but I used BG44k at 40k miles and then again at 60k miles and im pretty sure its done a good job... i had a look see and it was all somewhat cleaner and slightly quieter...

As for the idle and fault codes... i had p0441 (evap) code and i changed my n80 valve... problemo solved... smoother idle and better mpg.. the old n80 had seen its days @ 60k miles! thats the first thing i would try.. its not something you can give a clean so just replace it.. and its a cheap fix.. easy to DIY... clear the codes and see what happens... second option... having failed this... consider the throttle valve adaptor / throttle valve control module

Will merge my two threads...

Thought I had this fixed but its back again. Symptoms are an intermittent idle pulsing between 700-900rpms and car shaking slightly as it does this. Half the time its fine. No fault codes presently but when hooked up to VCDS is showing low voltages to cylinder 2 & 3 (from memory). Engine is AXX.
Have done a quick check for any split hoses, coil packs are pushed in and seated properly, spark plugs are in correctly.

Have replaced in the last 2 months:
Spark Plugs (OEM)
Revision F Coil Packs
N80 valve
Fuel filter
Cam follower
Revision D diverter valve
Oil/filter

Replaced the fuel filter and n80 last week and as soon as the car was started up it idled perfectly. Then after a 10 minute drive when it was idling the issue presented itself again. Very strange and annoying.

It gets expensive from here on in (unless I just put up with it as its not THAT bad). HPFP, intank pump, variable intake manifold adjusting unit, injectors & cleaning carbon buildup on valves would be my next step.. So if anyone has any other ideas?

Have a BSH PCV fix so it rules that out.

Try this, take off the fuel filter, then put the same one back on.
Could be a fuel issue with the fuel blockage or the tank pump.

Yes the throttle body was 'realigned'/reset with VCDS at the same time as the fuel filter & N80 valve (which temporarily fixed it).

MrLapou: What will that achieve RE fuel filter? Are you saying it might temporarily fix it again? Therefore suggesting there is a fuelling fault? Is there any way to test for blockages and test the tank pump?

Yes testing to see if the filter makes a difference. It could be the new filter is blocked with crud.
Only way to test fuel lines is by using specialist pressure and flow equipment.

Sorry, im still a little lost. So I replaced the filter with a brand new one and you're suggesting there might be crap in the tank that is causing it to block up again quickly even though its brand new? What would taking it out and putting it back in achieve?

I have had P2008 and P3138 codes constantly now for a couple of years. Clear them down and come back on next drive. Car runs fine apart from occasional 'hunting'/misfire when idling, similar to what you describe. Not got any worse over time.

Advice/research points to Intake Manifold Flap Motor needing replacing :-
P2008/08200 = Intake Manifold Flap Motor Open Circuit or Intake Manifold bank 1 electrical malfunction upper limit exceeded
P3138/12600 = Intake Manifold Flap Control Difference or Intake manifold runner control regulation deviation not a plausible signal

sometimes the intank fuel pump filter sock gets knackered but i doubt that would be an idle issue per se... that would probably be more of a hard start issue/youd perhaps notice a change in mpg and the vcds measuring blocks.

- Idle control vavle/sensor?
- Ignition timing?

Thanks for the advice re intake flapper motor. Will replace at some point. Interesting that those fault codes havnt come back on yet in my case though. Will see how I go over the next few hundred kms.

You changed the filter and N80 which improved things albeit for a short while, so it's logical to assume these items are in the loop causing the fault.

Still havnt had any fault codes re appear. Idle issue is back.

Its got to have something to do with the fuelling system. What is the part number for the in tank fuel pump on an AXX engine?

Got the number. Going to change in tank pump, hpfp and run an injector cleaner and see where it ends up.

I have just developed same issue.
Error codes showing are - P1093, P1297 and P0299
The car had its Coil Packs done by Audi as part of a recall 18 months ago and the plugs were replace by Audi 12 months ago.

Car is a 2005 Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TFSi DSG with 68k on the clock, FASH.

I have just put some Unipart Petrol System injector cleaner in the tank to try and clear any carbon deposits.

The error P1297 seems to point at DV so I assume that's my next step?

So happy DV valve replaced today and car transformed - so much more power!
The Diverter Valve was Revision B and the diagphram was hosed, recommend anyone with pre2009 gets it replaced with Revision D. Part costs just £50 and Crewe Audi charged me just £47 to fit.
The injector treatment seems to have solved the rough running at tickover too, that and a fast blast to clear out the cobwebs!
Happy man.

£47 to fit??? I'd have done that for free!! takes longer to take the payment than it does to undo 3 bolts!!

Glad its solved your problem though! :)

if it's 2.0 tfsi, then i think it's not as easy as on s3 to change dv.
glad it's sorted.

Hi any body help. I've got an 8p got a little miss fire only on idel I don't feel it when I drive. I have change the plugs. Coil pack. Injectors it is still there. Had it plug in at audi too no fail codes.
