how come some car come with short roof aerials and other do not. I thought that cars with bluetooth photo prep came with them but looks like do and don't looking at the used car images.

anyone got idea ?

Either they have sat-nav or phone prep (with active cradle) or both...
 
so if the car comes with bluetooth only, you don't get the aerial then?
 
Yep that's right with bluetooth only - antenna just with cradle in armrest or on dash.

If the car has Bluetooth from the factory it will have the roof fin aerial and it will have it if the car has RNS-e from factory also.

With people doing retro fits now though cars can have these things fitted but no roof aerial. Mine being one of them!
 
Yes, its as I said previously. I too drive a factory bluetooth (LOW) A3 every day and don't have the sharkfin. Its only the cradle (Bluetooth HIGH) that has the aerial.
 
I have the sharkfin on my 2012 s3, it has bluetooth and rns-e.

I actually like the aerial as its black and the car is white, looks cool :)
