What does this lead do then?

Had this lead poking through the centre console since I got my A3 and wondered what its for.

The chap I bought the car from said he thought it was an Ipod charger, but it has phonos on the stereo end etc?

Took out the stereo and this is how it is wired into the back. I assume its some kind of adapter to run an Ipod/Phone maybe?

Apologies its not that easy to see, but I didn't unplug anything!

Its an aux cable that instead of having a 3.5mm jack it has an iPod connector.

It will literally just allow music to play through your stereo but with no control.

So basically I can plug in an Ipod and I assume just control the volume only on the headunit. How would I go about selecting the Ipod, CD changer button? I dont actually have an Ipod to test it, but I might get one if its works as its something I have been meaning to buy for a while!

Yep you're correct. Can only control volume.

As long as it was setup correctly then just hit CD twice to put the headunit into Aux mode.
