I recently noticed that when decelerating under light brake pressure I get a loud clunk when my gearbox changes from 3rd to 2nd. I can feel it through the floorpan too.
Its a DSG (S-Tronic). It's really obvious every time I slow down at junctions. It's definitely worse when the brake is being applied but I can still hear it if I coast to a stop without braking. I havent noticed it in any of the higher gears and nothing is noticeable from 2nd to 1st.
Gearbox seems to be fine under all other conditions. Gear oil was changed during 60k service - that was 10k ago.
I've had the car for about 4k miles and when I first got it the car would shake when starting but recently that seems to have really calmed down.
Is this normal behaviour or should I get a professional diagnosis done?
Thanks!
