I'm just deciding which tyres to put on the front of my 170 TDI, need to be quiet, good performer in all conditions, good rim protection and a nice tread pattern! :)
225/40/18.

Been looking at the Toyo Proxes T1R or Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta.
Also Falkens and Goodyear have caught my eye. Although Goodyears Pattern is a bit plain.

Any thoughts please?

It's a minefield out there!!

Here's a good place to start....
Tyre reviews, tests and ratings | the online tyre guide
The Toyo has been around for a while now,and is significantly outperformed by the Goodyear F1,which is one of the best in that size range, and you should also consider the Continental Sportcontact5.

Neither. Goodyear F1A2s would be where my money would go.

Had them before(as in my post below, and they are excellent.
For Djwoody...don't worry about the tread patterns appearance,it only matters how it grips.

+1^^^^ The look of the pattern isn't important! They all look the same when the wheels are going round!!

Cheers. After looking at the reviews the Good years seem to be the one for me.
Now to find the best place to buy with fitting...

Falkens-NOOOOOO!!!!
conti SC5s I'd go with next.
unless you can stretch to Michelin PS2s?

Yokohama!

Vredestein Quatratek all season tyre is my choice.

vred ultrac sessantas are my choice, had them on lots of diff cars and are superb, last well, grip, look smart, rim protector.

better than the goodyears i hated them and the contis wore too quick.

Thanks for all your replies.
Where is the best place to buy online with fitting included?
I've found some good deals on tyreshopper.co.uk which include national fitting.

Good Year Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 > Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

In terms of:
Road noise
Rim protection
Dry grip

Can't comment on wear yet

No no no this is what you want....
