Upgrading the overhead console - anyone done it b4?

How is it to easy to upgrade the overhead console? My old A4 had the one with the twin reading lamps - the "new" A3 I have just has the basic one with the single courtesy light. Ideally I'd want the one that has the floodlighting for the gearstick/centre stack as well.

I've seen people selling boxed new ones on eBay for £60-ish, is it just a simple plug in and go job, or does it require coding or wiring upgrades?
 
Piece of cake to do. Ive just done my 8P2 S3 with the ambient lighting mod.. Sourced one off ebay and bought the LED module from Stoke Audi which was about £12. No extra wiring whatsooever. You will however have to tansfer the microphone for the bluetooth from the old console to the new one. I had to modify the new console as it didnt have the cut-out for it.....2 mins with a stanley blade and a drill.
 
As above, its plug and play.

They can usually be had for around £50 or so. Great mod, the gearstick lights look sweet at night
