Ok so I bought my car but only got 1 key

There are loads on eBay and the part numbers match mine, including the number behind the part where the key flips out

If I buy one and a blank HAA blade is there anywhere in Nottingham or close to east midlands who will cut the blade and reprogram the key to my car

Does anyone have the software and k now how to do it on he forum

Thanks in advance

I really don't want to spend the £190 I was quoted from Audi for a new one.

I would honestly go to Audi and get one done properly even if for peace of mind. The fact that you’re contemplating £190 for a premium car surely says it’s worth going to the dealer for..?

yep £190 for a key, is steep! can't you programme the key using another key or your car? sure i have read something on these lines

Ive tried it and my recommendation is go to audi and order one as its much leass hassle and it will work.

The only way to get a key that is capable of starting the car is to obtain the 'secret' code for the immobiliser chip. This is held at Audi Germany and is only available to dealers who will require proof of ownership before they get it.

Some specialist VAG independents may have software capable of extracting the code from the existing key but they are few and far between.

Getting a spare key to unlock the vehicle both with the key and by using the remote is quite easy by buying the right fob off ebay and getting a blank blade cut and then using VCDS to programme the remote bit. This, however, will not enable you to start the car because the immobiliser chip and remote control modules are completely separate inside the key fob.

Key insurance, its a must for audi owners.

Goto audi, been down this road many times with members, using another slightly cheaper source can leave you prone to theft as keys can be copied or extra's made whilst being coded, why risk your car for being tight :)

Audi can remove any keys apart from the one you have with you, too - it's not just about getting a new key, it's about making sure that nobody can use the keys you don't have.
