    Diverter Valve :-(

    Hi all,
Car went in for a service yesterday and I thought recently it had been a bit lacking in power.. They think my old style Diverter valve may have gone. Does anyone know what the cost is for a new one and do I need to go to Audi for it?

    Cheers James

Did you fit it yourself?? Apparently its a lot more tricky to fit on a non-S3 TFSI than it is on the S3 due to its location.

They are about £50 for the updated one.

I did mine on the driveway (non S3), it is do-able but very awkward.

Rev D (I think it's called) is the updated one. The old DV is rather awful anyways, I would advice to update the DV even if it didn't go.

Exactly that, it's right at the back of the engine under the turbo but it's doable....

It's easy on the S3 as it's right in the front near the air intake....

Does anyone have any idea how much power is being lost through this problem? Car has been like this since I bought it, always thought it felt gutless but put it down to Quattro and being a heavy sportback. Will i notice a difference?

The only way you'll know how much power is being lost is by using a rolling road, and the extent of your power loss depends on how split your DV's diaphragm is.
But everyone who has had a split one and replaced it with the new Rev D version says that it makes the car feel like its been "remapped". I'd take that as meaning it makes enough of a difference to feel the difference, which means its a very worthwhile swap.

    Thanks Ads,

Well I think it has been that way for a while I just didnt realise, but the car seems to boost well to say 3000rpm and then it feels like the boost tails off, quite excited to see what happens this weekend with the new valve £89 all in fitted by my local specialist VAG guy who did the service.. Which doesnt seem to bad plus its in for new coil packs as well with Audi so I hope service + DV + coil packs = a much quicker car!!!!
