My A3 (2005 1.6 FSI Sport) is suffering the classic rear wiper/wash issue. I've had the spurious alarm triggering, random wiper operation and catch/release issues (all diagnosed more fully with the help of excellent threads on here).
I have dried out the lock and although the washer works ok, it is also filling the motor casing with water.
I see there is a repair kit available for 45 quid or so, or I can fit a new motor for about double that. But I'm thinking it might be better to resite the washer as a separate nozzle - if I keep the water away from the motor altogether I won't be paying for another repair kit or motor in another five years or so.
What do you think?
My other question is the wheels - car came to me s/h from a non-Audi non-specialist dealer - fitted with 17" alloys wearing low profile tyres. Would my car have been available with 16" (or another size) as standard? I know it may seem a bit odd asking aboout going to smaller rims rather than larger, but I am more interested in comfort and economy than looks and handling.
