Hello guys I have adaptive bi zenons the lights work fine but just wondering if they should move side to side when the car starts up because at the minute they just go up and down I have vag com if it can be set in there many thanks

Im on my 3rd 8p. the xenons only move up and down for self levelling. it's normal.

Ive seen VW passats with these side to side up down warm up regime but pretty sure the S3 doesn't have this feature. [I may be corrected :) ]

It does look pretty cool though when they do go mad when you switch them on though :)

Ok that's good thank u I just wondered if I had it set up wrong, would be cool if it could be set up but not worried if it can't be,

You need to check the headlight modules fitted in module 55 to determine what versions are fitted, usually adaptives go LR aswell as Up/Down, normals just Up/Down
 
If I check this is there anyway I can change it to make them go l/r or is it just that only certain modules will be able to
 
You cant make normal bixenons into adaptives, there's wiring, electronics & headlight differences, so would have to be swapped out, modules changed, rewired & coded to suit.

You can go into vcds & test the adaptives with showroom effect if adaptive.

Assume its a genuine cable.

Side to side will be for adaptives, as mentioned above, as this is what adaptive lights do...

Up and down is for normal xenons as that is all that the lights have to adjust whilst on the move.

right i think i have done that correct there are a few fault codes on there i know one is because i have fitted the sta nav and one is because i have the phone prep set to high so the phone book and missed calls ectshow on the screen
 
I'll test some in the near future, iirc last car I did for these lights didnt do L/R everytime in use.

I have adaptive xenons and my current MY12 Sportback and I also had them on the previous 2009 Sportback and I don't think I ever saw them move from side to side on start-up. Up and down but never side to side.
 
audi upgrades
They do act in this manner dave, just not all the time iirc from others have used & installed, however my prefacelift adaptives did it every time.
 
Seems like a bit of a mix and match, the adaptives on my 8P2 S3 don't do the side to side on startup.
