Hi,
Will be putting a new cv boot on this weekend so while its up on the axel stands was considering changing the gearbox oil as the car is coming upto 100k and want as much life out of it as possible!

anyone any idea whats the normal milage audi advises the gearbox oil is changed? has anyone done this....is it easy or hard?

I have read that gearbox oil dosent usuall need changing...if this is the case i wont bother!

Cheers

As far as i know you dont really have to change the oil in a manual gearbox. I do know that it is advised to change it in a dsg gearbox every 40k miles.

i use silkolene silktran syn5 ,used it in all my cars, the VXR,skylines and the audi, you will find most on here telling you to use audi genuine only, interested in their reasons for that

yes mine is manual,i never did mine as i was busy so got a mechanic to do it but its usually straight forward,on top of the gearbox there is a fill hole (usually a torx screw),middle of the box there will be a fill level hole and bottom a drain hole, undo the top plug, then undo the bottom (remembering to place an oil pan or similar under the drain plug),then drain, once empty undo the fill hole and put the drain plug back in and tighten, fill with oil till it comes out of the fill hole, then put all plugs back in and tighten, simples
