Here is a question for you - after placing an order for my Audi A3 S Line (Sept delivery) I had the dealer telephone me stating that from week 23 the new front would be released so my order will be the A3 with the new grill (no problem).
However, then the dealer said that the new S Line model did not include the rear spolier in the price, but offered me the full body kit or rear spoiler on its own at a cost.

When i ordered the car, the dealer said that the rear spoiler came with it.

Should I ask for a big discount or get my deposit back and go to another dealer? Should the dealer not have known what was included in the package of an S Line before selling it to me??

Yes without doubt, the dealer would have enough 'over allowance' in the deal to do this for you free and you should insist on it. Its news to me that the s line doesnt include the rear spoiler; it always has. Someone on here had one sent without once, and one was put on by the dealer.
If the dealer indicated to you that it was included, or even did not point out it wasnt if the brochures showed it, you have a great case. Ask for the sales manager to deal with it or better the dealer principal.

The new S-Line does not come with a rear spolier, it is now part of a new S-Line exterior package, similar to the A6 etc.
However, peopel are getting up to 10% discount on a new car so unless you got full discount, I would demand the dealer fit the spoiler. If he doesn't and you didn't get a decent discount, then I would take the deposit back and get a discount elsewhere.

Suggest you have words with your dealer, or find another one.

See below from Audi UK. It does have a spoiler! If you look in the post "Official SFG Details, See HERE
" on page 2, down the bottom someone has posted some pix of it, the rear pic clearly shows the boot spoiler, front spoiler look neat too. Tell your dealer that he/she better do thier home work and start surfing this site for the correct info!

05.05.2005 NEW LOOK FOR 2006 THREE-DOOR AUDI A3 RANGE

Styling revisions and detail changes enhance the latest three-door A3 range.

Three-door A3 adopts single frame grille in line with 5-door A3 Sportback, and benefits from sports suspension revisions, a new optional S line exterior styling upgrade and new wheel choices
Available to order from Friday April 29 at OTR prices ranging from £15,515 to £24,130 for first deliveries in July

The striking single frame grille that symbolises the latest Audi corporate look extends its reach to three-door versions of the best-selling A3 compact hatchback from this month, bringing the 19 models in the three-door range into line with their five-door Sportback counterparts.

Benefiting from suspension and steering enhancements, new alloy wheel choices and additional S line sports styling options, the 2006 Model Year A3 range is available to order now with OTR prices ranging from £15,515 to £24,130. First deliveries to UK customers are expected in July.

The new look A3 is available with a choice of seven engines, three transmissions and three trim levels - standard, comfort-biased SE and Sport, the latter offering the option to upgrade to an even more distinctly sporting S line specification for an additional £1,000. Unlike the previous model, the latest A3 also offers customers choosing the S line option the opportunity to go one step further by adding unique S line sports styling for a supplement of £950.

Exclusive S line features include 18-inch, RS 6-style 5 Arm alloy wheels, S line badging for the side panels and sill strips, leather and Speed cloth upholstered sports seats and a perforated leather-trimmed S line sports steering wheel in a new design for this latest A3. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gifTaking the S line theme to the next level, the new additional £950 styling option adds a unique S line front and rear bumper design and a roof spoiler to subtly enhance the look. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

A3 Sport and S line models now also feature a revised sports suspension with modified spring and damper settings designed to further improve ride comfort and handling agility.

The existing full complement of safety features has been further enhanced by a new steering aid built into the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which senses an impending skid and monitors the driver's response. If the driver's steering inputs are helping to bring the car back on course, the weight of the steering is reduced, but if there is a risk of those inputs worsening the situation, steering resistance is increased.

Audi hill hold assist - an optional new feature that can also be programmed into the latest ESP system - offers extra convenience and added safety by preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards on an uphill incline. Brake pressure built up when the foot brake is applied is maintained for a short while after the brake is released on a gradient. The brake is released as soon as a gear is engaged.

Of the seven advanced engines making up the latest A3 range, three employ the latest FSI direct petrol injection for an optimum combination of strong performance, impressively low fuel consumption and minimal CO2 emissions, the most recent being the exceptionally responsive turbo charged 2.0 T FSI with 200PS. The line-up also includes two four-cylinder engines delivering the economy benefits of TDI diesel technology with no shortage of performance, and at the forefront a remarkable 250PS 3.2-litre V6 petrol unit with 250PS for outright performance enthusiasts.

Other major advantages of the A3 range include the quattro permanent four-wheel-drive system, which brings significant traction and safety gains to 2.0 T FSI, 2.0 TDI and 3.2 V6 models, and the widely acclaimed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), also available in conjunction with these engines. DSG offers all the advantages of a sporting close ratio manual gearbox and a slick shifting automatic, with none of the negative aspects of either. Featuring twin automated clutches, it permits exceptionally rapid, 0.02 second manual gear changes, yet it can also behave like a more traditional automatic shift for more relaxed urban driving.

Speaking of body kits...
Anyone else seen these back bumpers on Astras/Novas etc.etc.

They feature a fold/pleat effect in them, like a pair of curtains.

What the hell are they all about ???

I followed one along the road the other day and I've never seen anything so ridiculous on a car, short of coloured wipers.

Yep, seen a couple of mk3 or 4 escorts with the 'pleated curtain' effect. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif

Kind of matches the 1980/90's 'Curtains' haircut of the driver /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

It's difficult fuzz,When did you order it. i don't think your dealer was being dis honest at the time of ordering, the new model spec has only just been released from Audi so he might not have realised. You can see where the mix up might have been. That said, I'm pretty sure if you threaten to cancel the deal unless he fits one, i reckon he'll go for it +++

I ordered the car on the 30th April for a Sept delivery. So they may or maynot have not known about the new spec??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Per the 2006MY product update from 4th May, orders taken from now will be 2006 spec and not get a spoiler but be offered the £950 styling pack as an option (week 22 build and onwards). So I guess any car ordered in the last few weeks is also likely to end up being a 2006 spec given the lead time on builds. I ordered mine on 27th March last year and still got 2005 spec as it was eventually built in week 23. Ironically, this meant that I got an unexpected spoiler for free as it was a new standard piece of kit for the 2005 models!

Oh and don't forget that there is also a price rise from week 22, but the dealers should absorb that. Go for the discount or a free retro-fit.

I cant believe that when you order an S Line car you have to pay extra for the S line bodykit.......amazing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/noidea.gif

Thats it for me, I've had 2 S3's and have tired of waiting for the new S3 so ordered a loaded A3 Sline DSG last week but after this I have just cancelled the order. Theres no way I'm paying more money for a car without the kit...no way.

Got my name on a new BMW 330D Sport now and sod Audi. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif Get it remapped and it'll be quicker than the A3 3.2 anyway and do loads more to the gallon to boot. No confusion with specs either.

I'm confused...

As I understand it there has never been an 'S-line bodykit' as such.

It's a new thing,which is £950 over the existing S-line pack.

So how can you complain about not getting something that hasn't existed up until now ?

Damn, beat me again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

Because we are all upset that the boot spoiler is now extra and not part of the S-line pack.

If you order an S-line A4 now, you get a GmBH body kit as standard, and that inlcudes the boot spoiler.

I wouldn't bother with the S-line 06 model if you have to pay extra for the body kit, reckon I'd just go for an A3 Sportback or A4 instead, or even......go back to BMW where specs are clear.

Shame, I really love my A3 S-Line, I'll just keep it for a bit longer and not swap it for a new 06 model!

So all you're really being 'denied' is the 'free' roof spoiler ?
I'm sure a dealer would rather just fit that FOC than lose an order.
Seems a bit 'spitting the dummy' to cancel an order over a roof spoiler that is extremely discreet anyway !

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/noidea.gif

Bowfer its principle. If I buy an 's line' then thats what I want, period. I don't want an s line that hasn't got the 'extra' s line parts no matter how discreet. Either its an s line or it isn't. If it is simple with the A4 then why not with the A3?

When you ordered the S-line you thought you were getting a roof spoiler, correct ?

You didn't think you were getting a different spoiler and rear skirt thing, correct ?

So you're arguing over a roof spoiler, which I'm sure the dealer would easily honour.

You can't go moaning about not getting the rest of the bodykit when you weren't getting it in the first place !

You are missing the point, the car is an s line and there shouldnt be extra s line parts which you have to pay for. If Audi want to distinguish the s line by way of these bumpers then they should be standard. Please remember that there is a price increase too with this new model. I can afford to pay the extra for this bodykit, just don't see why we should be asked to.

I have just spoken to my main dealer.

The discount that my main dealer said to me was 7% on the S-line pack. 7% on £950 = £67 (No way)

But to have a roof spoiler fitted was about £505inc VAT

The dealer ask would I meet them in the middle which is £250 for me and £255 for the dealer.

All for you putting on Order in now. By law audi can change there spec when they like So make sure on the receipt you write " if any change audi make and you do not like then you can have your make back ( Or something like that)" Otherwise you may lose you deposit

But if I am correct, it's the same with the A4 and A6. S-line pack is now split into two parts, with the additional body styling being the second part. I think with the A4 they are throwing in the body styling for free, but only for a limited time.

You cant have your cake and eat it, there is a price rise from week 22. So pay the increase and get the spoiler or accept no spoiler and get it cheaper. Dont see a problem. BMW or any other prestige marque charge for bodystling extras.

Old 'S-Line' body kit used to cost £1600, I'd consider £950 a bit of a snip personally.

Especially as it's a complete new front bumper and not just a lower lip. This together with different fogs etc.

There wasn't an old s line bodykit it was the votex, not the same. Yes there is a price rise and that is without the spolier...you pay even more to get the spolier on top of the price rise!

Only problem is.......if you look over on the sfg thread, that new kit does look good ........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

I am going to meet the dealer in the middle with the spoiler.

Also about a month ago one member posted his Order form for his A3 which had the body kit on it for £1700.

So has the dealer got incontact with him to say that the new S-line Ext Body kit is £950 and not £1700.

I am sorry but I cannot remember the members Name

Sorry, but I still don't get why you think you have a complaint.
Basically, what you're saying is that every time Audi release an extra option for the S-line you should get it for nothing ?
They released full leather as an option for the S-line some time back,I seem to remember (instead of the part-leather,part-cloth).
It's,I think,a £750 upgrade instead of the £1500 you'd pay for a non S-line car.
Did I expect to get it for nothing ?
No !
I understood that there is a 'base' S-line model and anything else would cost me.

I'm not even so sure about the roof spoiler situation any more.

If you're ordering the existing nosed A3,then yes you should get a roof spoiler.
However,if Audi decide the new nose doesn't get a roof spoiler then tough titties,to be honest.

Roof spoiler/old nose -No roof spoiler/new nose.

Quite simple really.

Most manufacturers do this.
When they release a revised model, there are revisions to the spec that go with it,simple as that.

I don't think that bodykit would be a popular standard fitment anyway.I wouldn't want it,for example.

Ok, Ok we all have different opinions thats what makes these forums so good. I can see your point too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

There were people who were gutted when the S-Line started to come with a spoiler, there were people who were gutted when the s-line was then avialable with full leather, there are people who will be gutted now there is a body kit now available for the s-line.

Cars are a product, Audi is in the game to make money, and they have to think of new ways to get business, they have to stay on their toes and cahnge/update product.

Nick you said you have your money down on a new 3 sport, great car, but what happens in the Autumn when the sport gets the full M-Tec body kit and the new M-Tec III alloys?
You can always wait, but there are always revisions less than 6 months away when you buy a new car, and they are nearly always improvements too.

Know waht you mean gizze. The Bm is the sport model as it won't arrive until Sept/Oct time. After all this I do like the look of that new kit though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bang.gif

Ok, found them.

Yeah, probably when the S3 is released.

Thank you all

I can see all of your views but gizze your right at the end of the day Audi are there to make money.

But that is like everything else they will be updated " New this New that"

I have come to a compromise with my audi dealer.
Like Japper say then the new S3 come what happens next? End of the day you can wait and wait and wait how far do you go.

Nice Pic /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Fuzzman have you gone to any other dealers!!! There is another on the A406 just past Edmonton on the lefthand side and another not far from Finchley....you should shop around or at least get quotes off them to see if theres any difference. Whetstone Audi is the supposed Flagship for London but i have found them to be very unwilling to help or investigate problems with my car other then the manager sorting one out as i dragged him out! They have a lot of customers who are
"loaded"...sales guys words so they are more enclined to charge everyone for everything if you know what i mean. Nothing ventured nothing gained eh! Good luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif
