Obviously a full key would have to be bought and blank blade, would it code in? Blade fit ?

Anyone done this yet?

Jrd,

Just replace the battery if it's lost range !

That new style key has a coded transponder in it (not the circuit board) which matches the car immobiliser. It won't work with your car and it can't be re-programmed because the chip can only be coded once.

Already replaced battery fob still has poor range, tried 2 batteries.

New key with virgin transponder was my meaning.

Ok, well it might work but you'll need Audi to program the transponder because the 'secret' code for your car is only generally available from Germany. The blade length on the new key is also different as far as I'm aware.

You may find an auto locksmith local to you who could do it/get it done for a reasonable price but if you have to go to Audi it will cost upwards of £150 !

ill be sorted for getting it coded, just dont want to buy one of these keys if it wont work, ill keep looking around. Thanks for input mate

Found a new key, off to attempt coding at 3pm today, ill let you lot know if this is a sure thing or a bum deal :)
