Just gave my car a good seeing to. Done all the usual servicing jobs but can't seem to lose the servicing indicators on the DIS or Mileometer. Do I have to get this done via VAGCOM or can I do it without?

turn ignition on and pull the right speedo dial and hold it pulled out until it resets

Here it is as clear as I can make it:
0. Display reads "Service!" when you first start the car.
1. With the ignition key in the off position, push and hold the right button under the speedometer. This is the button you use to reset the trip odometer also.
2. Turn the ignition key to the on position, but don't start the engine. Keep holding down the right button while you turn the key.
3. Push the left button under the tachometer. Your service light should reset to say something like "Service in 8100 miles."

Tried all those button presses but nothing changed

My car is a 2010 A3 1.6TDI Sport. Maybe it differs from models

I spoke to Audi garage today. Apparently with the 2009-on models only an approved Audi Garage can reset the service indicator and only if 'THEY' service it. Sure got us by the short and curly's now. Certainly the best way to make money. Can anyone tell me if it can be re-set by any VAGCOM?

Yes of course it can - look on vcds user section of this forum for someone close to you who will do it for you.

However, you should be aware that having no stamp in the service book at the correct mileage or time span will seriously affect the resale value of the car.

You do not have to use a main dealer - just a VAT registered garage - preferably a VAG independent specialist.

Also bear in mind that you have bought an Audi which is an upmarket car and don't expect to do things on the cheap, especially with parts, servicing and modifications.

Cheers Mike.
By the time I'm finished with the car the Stamp is immaterial!! However the last two services were done by Audi and on both occasions they 'forgot' to stamp the book. I appreciate the fact that I have an 'Upmarket' car but I don't appreciate being ripped off and cornered as it seems that most Audi dealers are at it.
I'm not sure if it's routine however on previous so called services at the Audi dealer neither the fuel filter, Air Filter or the oil filter was changed. The car is now at 60K miles and if left to Audi probably still would not have been fitted with new filters. After realising this on previous service I was told it was not necessary to replace these filters. I cut my losses and went and bought all three and installed them myself.

Perhaps it's the fact that it's an 'Upmarket' car that I want to look after it better than Audi dealers want to :)

If the car was serviced by Audi then they will have a record of it and they can stamp your book for you. Any Audi dealer should do that because the record will be on the main computer database.

You don't have to go to a main dealer as there are many VAG independent garages that will charge half the price and still stamp the book.

As far as filters etc. are concerned it depends on the servicing requirements of your particular vehicle which will be detailed in the service book

Turn on ignition and go to oil service. Pull speedo milometer reset button and hold out until all fugues zero and time resets to 365 days. Same routine for service. Did mine on the 2010 1.4 tfsi.
