Thread: 20 inch reps? a definate no, no?

Been looking for a set of alloys for quite a while now, just wondering if 20 inches is too big and would the rub against the arches? Whats the ideal size? would my car then need lowering afterwards to compensate? Currently got a black 2.0 tdi sport 8p1 so would be hoping thats suffient to avoid paying for new springs. Finally, R8 V10's or the RS6's? Thanks for th help!

I think the ride would be pretty awful, and the handling could be quite unpredictable. A show car fair enough, but a daily driver I wouldn't consider it. Tyres would cost so much you have to sell vital organs if 4 went together!

I think N8 runs 20's but he's on air ride and well he's N8.

I think 19's are the most you should go for a daily driver and even then it would effect handling and ride and you'd need to lower the car considerably in order for it not to look like a jeep. I trial fitted 4 19" S6 alloys on my car before realising my whole set up was wrong.

As above be expecting to pay atleast £100 a tyre on 19's and way more on 20's.

I think 20s take a bit more commitment than people might expect. They'll look oversized too, and as everyone's saying tyres and ride will be an issue too far for most people. At the same time, if you want 20s, get 20s. I wouldn't get reps though, OEM all the way (if only for potential weight saving).

Fitted mid range 19's (Toyo/Uniroyal/Hankooks) are about £160-£170, whereas premium are £185-£250.

20's start at £186 and go upto £315 a corner on black circles.

N8's car has quality supporting kit to help run 20's. OEM would be tough.

Are the 19's very bumpy? mine has 17's and i want to get some sline 18's but i don't wanna ruin the ride

20's only work on two things 1 a sport back they just look too big on a 3 door and 2 air ride as brother N8 has shown us all without those two things just no simples

Might as well drive around with a boot full of cement!
