Abyss (Andrew) is the owner of Diesel Tuning UK (DTUK). He is by far the best person to speak to on here about diesel tuning boxes and of course being a forum member he'll give you a decent discount. You'd be surprised how tunable your DERV engine actually is xx

Absolutely is true. I was one of the first people to buy from Andrew when he set up, and my standard 150bhp 1.9cdti vectra was RR'd a few weeks later at 189bhp with one of Andrews 'green boxes' on. Go for it mate, you'll be gobsmacked at how it transforms the derv and gets rid of your low down turbo lag.

I'm sceptical on that one too, can't work out how just plugging a box into your car can help. Compared to a remap done on the actual ECU. Surely there is some detrimental effect on doing this?

Then of course there's the question of what happens at MOT and servicing time? Do you have to keep taking the box on an off your car?

No need to be sceptical, moreso with our systems as I spent 6 months developing kits for the 2.0TDI Common Rail

We went out and contract hired a Leon as at the time it was the cheapest way of gaining access to the new engine.

The first kit was our CRD2+ system which controls and connects to the common rail only. This was and is a great improvement over standard which sporned our CRD-T system which connects and controls the boost pressure as well as the fuelling via the common rail.

The Leon was rolling roaded and this was the result..

Compare this graph to a well known remapper, and you will see how well the box compares

Lots of feedback from our customers on our website

My Audi A4 ALLROAD 2.0tdi With Your CRD-T | Diesel Tuning UK Testimonials

I cant vouch for other systems on the market, but as for this engine i would say we have spent a lot more time on R&D than most out of there.

Gary was one of my first customers back in 2005, since then ive sold in excess of 9500 systems so i must be doing something right

If they werent any good, i wouldnt be running about in Bluebell

As for MOT time, remove the system and the car reverts back to standard in minutes.

You can also transfer the system to 1000's of other cars, so its a win win situation

But what about during MOT and servicing at a main dealer? Is it recommended to remove the box during these processes?
Also insurance considerations, with remapping there's no obvious footprint, with a DTUK box you can see something extra present!

Deffinatly on the right tracks with 9500 units out there, and from all the reviews on various forums there is a very strong following, but I'm sceptical because during my day (I'm really not THAT old) all the tuning parts that where around that just plugged or bolted to the car quoted large gains, but rarely delivered them.
A guy I use to work with brought some kind of diesel tuning box, plugged it in to his VW Passat 130 TDi, and whenever he booted it he left in a cloud of black smoke! He sold the box on Ebay after a week or so. But I guess this is the same as anything, you pay your money you get what you pay for! His just plugged in inside the car rather than under the bonnet like yours do!

Ive seen cars with boxes have cleaner emissions with a box fitted, but we always suggest removing it for MOT's and any visits to your dealer.

As for insurance, again we recommend that you speak to your insurance company and declare any modifications made to your car.

I also work with Andrew @ DTUK as well as doing Juicy

All our systems work within the tolerances of what the engine will allow in the same way that a remap would, therefore in essence if a map is too high the engine management light comes on and the engine sounds rough, smoke or simply won't start. This is the same with the modules, however with the settings we provide this will not happen.

In regard to our Seat Leon this was tried and tested throughly particularly as I was the main one driving the car lol. All our cars get their heads kicked in on our test road so that we know that the modules and maps used reach their full capacity and that a customer driving normally will not have issues.

Customers that own DPF vehicles are given instructions on how high to run the maps to keep within acceptable tolerances so as not to cause any long term damage or continual re-generation.

In relation to MOT as Andrew mentioned once it is removed there is no traceability where as a remap has. The most advantageous benefit of these is that they are transferrable between vehicles and upgraded software is FREE.

    Hi guys

Was considering a tuning box or remap at the end of 2011, I have a 2009 2.0 tdi 140 cr S tronic, almost bought but a few people posted that any kind of tune to the 140 cr would destroy the turbo. This naturally put me off.

Having seen this post I am now tempted again, I had a Spider tuning box for a freelander 2.0 tdi and it completely changed the drive ability in a positive way. Previous to the tuning box being fitted there would be a lag or flat spot before about 1800 rpm then once the box was fitted the lag had disappeared and the way the freelancer went from tick over to 2500 was completley different, no lag or hesitation and then once the turbo was spinning the whole drive was much stronger.

Does anybody have one of these boxes on the same A3 as me and can give a quick review of the the before and after. I feel that the current drive ability of my car is a little erratic from tickover to around 2000 rpm, sometimes the power comes in earlier in the rev range and other times it is higher.

I am not being paranoid but I was put off the idea of any kind of tuning because of the apparent weakness of the 140 cr turbo.

    Please give me some feedback.

    Cheers
