Remote key locking, lights don't flash.... Am I goin mad?!

Just been out to move the car for neighbour and when I locked the car to go back in the indicator lights never flashed. Tried it a few times and they won't flash at all on "Lock". I'm pretty sure they have done since I've had the car. They're only flashing on "Unlock".

Am I goin mad or have they stopped workin? Anyone else had this?

Does the car actually lock even though the lights don't flash ?

Yes mate, the car locks. Really odd. I'm certain that the lights flashed once on locking....

Needs a scan with VCDS to see if any fault codes are thrown up. You can make it beep as well as flash with VCDS as a secondary confirmation if the lights bit is definitely faulty !

Yes they flash when you lock the car. Remember if you press the lock button once you deadlock it. Press it twice and you only lock the doors. Funny you say this though as I have had the same thing happen a few times before. Make sure the alarm is arming and the 'pet' button isnt active

First push is 'lock' - second push within a couple of seconds is 'deadlock'

There may be an issue with one of your doors, bonnet or boot.

I had a faulty bonnet sensor so the car thought it was open so never flashed when I locked it. Replaced the sensor and it was fine again.

May be obvious, but double check nothing is open on your DIS.

Good point Baffles but, in my experience, if there is a faulty sensor then the car won't lock lock at all because it thinks something is open ! Also the alarm tends to go off for no apparent reason!

You chaps are absolutely splendid. Thank you very much. Sorted it. Boot or door must have not been shut. Didn't notice it on the DIS. Just walked round, opened and shut all doors and boot. Now flashes on lock.

Already had some wonderful info from people on here. Thanks a lot.

    Davo...

Good excuse to get the chirp enabled on lock.

If it doesn't chirp when you lock, it means one of the doors isn't shut properly

Yeah, I did read that you can have that enabled. Maybe I can find someone who would be kind enough and willing to enabled it with their VCDS.

Very kind offer Mike. Every now and then I head over to Harrogate to visit family so next time I do If I don't find anyone in the meantime I may take you up on that offer.

As above, very kind offer, but as your tongue suggests, it would one hell of a round trip to enable the beep. Ha.

So the first click on the remote fob only locks the car, it doesn't deadlock it?

I thought it locked the car and deadlocked it on the first click, second click (within a few seconds of the first) removed the deadlock?

Cheers for the offer man, but it would be an awful squeeze to make it in time. Even if I took the car for a remapping this afternoon before hand. Ha.

This is what I thought and still think. I'm sure I read this in the manual but I'm having second thoughts now
