Calling all techno whizz's out there!

Is there anyway to control the iPod from the iPod itself when plugged in through the adapter in the glovebox?
 
Do you have the mk1 or mk2 rns-e? from what i know you could get a aux in fitted in, and if not that then the dension gateway 100 kit has an ipod lead and an aux lead & im sure that aux allows you to use the ipod as the source but i could be wrong
