I recently bought myself a 2004 Audi a3 fsi sport, but the traction controll light came on and the battery light keep coming on when I go up a hill then goes off now and then, the car had a new battery fitted a month ago too, any ideas?

Put a multimeter on the battery terminals to see what voltage the cars putting out before starting it. Much less than 12v is a warning sign. Car should be able to generate upto 14.4v when running.

Does the car labour much if you turn on aircon or full beam lights?

If it is alternator the new battery will eventually suffer. Also check o make sure earthing connections to the chassis look clean /good.

Also put a voltmeter across the battery and get someone to try and start the car and see what the voltage drop is under load. It should still put out 10+ volts. Also check battery fluid levels if its losing voltage up hill

Il go in past a garage on my way home, I never noticed it labour but the battery light came on every time I wheel spun (it was icy)

Well it was a red rectangle with a positive and a negative inside of it. It wasn't the ESP light because that's on all the time

Is it possible for a faulty alternator to make the traction control light to stay on?

Oh and I forgot to say, before I bought my car the dealer said that he changed the battery because the car wasn't starting great, maybe because it was dead because the alternator wasn't charging it, that was about 2 weeks ago
