Hi guys

For anyone that has already done this...

I am going to be installing the new facelift door modules tomorrow and have been looking into the pins that need to be moved from my current 20 & 32 pin plugs to match that of the facelift modules.

i have dug up some info from another thread here on the forum but its getting a little confusing as the list is showing some pins that dont exist on my current wiring.

below is the list that i have put side by side to show the differences in the pins. the RED pins are the ones that i am really unsure about. the others are colour coded to show which pin goes where:

Does anyone know exactly which pins i need to move over? is there a definitive list or guide out there for which pins go where? the ones that i have coloured can be moved but what of those in red that i cannot identify?

any help is appriciated!

Hi ash
what functions are gained with new door modules?
I have these sat at home but never bothered fitting them:8P0 959 802 N
hows the reverse camera mod getting on lad?

ok so i did the door modules and the 20 pin connectors arent that hard, thsoe 32 pin connectors on the drivers side however!
but alas i have fitted on my P rev door modules and have got the power folding mirrors working along with the new chrome facelift window switches and the LED indicator working as per OEM.

I do have one error now though from both door modules, wondering if anyone knows what this is and why i have it?

Does you know if :8P0 959 802 N
supports the folding option?

Cracking work Ash, well played.

Looking through Ross-Tech's Wiki of the fault code I can only assume the following could be the only possible cause:
  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Passenger Side (F221) faulty
  • Voltage Supply for Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Passenger Side (F221) faulty
  • Door Lock Mechanics are stiff/partially seized
  • Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Passenger Side (F221) faulty

There is also the following note:

Special Notes
  • NAR (North American Region) Models do NOT have a SAFE-Switch in their door locks, once these models are being wrongly equipped with a RoW (Rest of World) door lock, a SAFE feedback signal is being sent which causes this code.

Though I'm sure that wouldn't possibly apply to our UK models.

jboo do you remember when you fitted cruise to my car? Well if you do, you mentioned about fitting a multi function steering wheel and mentioned i need some sort of module, do you know exactly what i need for this job and a rough cost involved?

Thanks

Aiden the module you need is a F rev steering control module and the part numbe starts with 8P0 not 1K0.
Do a search in the forum as this topic had been covered over and over again!

Jhonny, the lock error is not a faulty unit but that safe signal makes more sense as there is something in the coding about it. I will have a bit more of a play today ad see if I can get rid I'd the error. I'm 99% sure I got the repinning correct so may need to go over that again quickly. Though like I said the car is locking perfectly so it's not a problem with the central locking unit itself.

Big thanks to mike by the wat who without I wouldn't have installed any of this! Thanks for the working space mate, I know I keep saying it but it's such a big help!

As far as I know all facelift modules support the folding option, but if it's just folding you want I wouldn't go to the hassle o repinning the door modules. It is alot of work.
If you had other facelift parts in the door then that's another thing. I now have the facelift dumbo mirror that power folds, the led indicator on that mirror and the facelift chrome window switches. All working perfectly :)

Seems a strange fault code. Here's some coding info from a Golf MK5 door module, not sure how that'll even compare up to the facelift A3 modules though - probably totally different but it does mentioned the safe motor:

+0000002 = Ambient Mirror Illumination
+0000004 = Mirror Turn Signals
+0000008 = Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
+0000016 = Automatic Run active
+0000032 = Mirror Heater installed
+0000064 = Door Exit/Warning Light installed
+0000128 = 5-Door Chassis
+0000256 = Seat Memory installed
+0000512 = Right Hand Steering
+0001024 = Safe-Motor not installed
+0002048 = Pinch Protection inactive

Why is there an easier way to achieve folding mirrors without the modules?
What else can be achieve with the door modules? other than the folding?
I only have the dumbos on the door nothing faclift IN the door tho

Not all facelift modules are folding, check your wiring 1st then attack other areas.

nige the man always with a plan :anbet: lol

The wiring currently will be pre facelift
Is there no way to determine if the modukes support folding via the part no?

Ash how have you enabled them internally? have you had to get a button or something to enable them?
I have folded mirrors on my seat leon which looks cool, especially as they turn up but that cant be possible for the dumbos...its on the newer side mirrors right? when i fold my side mirrors they dont go fully in now so a guess it will be the same when they are elec powered

I first coded it without the safe motor not installed but i had that error, today i coded with the safe motor not installed and the error went away which is weird as my previous modules did not have the safe motor not installed coded. so i double checked the wiring which is according to Elsa and then recoded the module back without the safe motor not installed and the error has disappeared. weird that but its working now so all good.

i said its easier without changing to the facelift modules as you dont need to repin the connectors, if you get the prefacelift module that supports the power folding and just leave everything else the way it is then it will work correctly.

to find out if you can code the current modules to power folding just go into the module on vcds and go to the coding menu. there are 7 digits that can be entered witht he first 3 starting as 000. the rest you need to sum up depending on what you have installed in the car.

just like what Johnny posted up earlier:
+0000002 = Ambient Mirror Illumination
+0000004 = Mirror Turn Signals
+0000008 = Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
+0000016 = Automatic Run active
+0000032 = Mirror Heater installed

+0000256 = Seat Memory installed
+0000512 = Right Hand Steering
+0001024 = Safe-Motor not installed
+0002048 = Pinch Protection inactive

as you can see the above does not have the code for power folding mirrors which in my new modules are +0004096
its that power folding option that you are looking for.

the MY11 mirrors fold up. and yes the current mirrors dont fold flush and that exactly the same for the power folding ones. its really cool how i can fold both mirrors by just turning the mirror switch to 6 'o'clock.

Is there no way to determine if the modukes support folding via the part no?

You can if you know the differing part numbers.

The mirrors will fold in to practically the same as the widest point of the side of the car, namely wings, same as the 2011 versions will go upwards to cater for same.

Assuming my current prefacelift modules do have the feature, is it a matter of enabling via vcds? no other parts needed?
If they do not have the function, what other parts are required other than the facelift door modules?

as long as you have the power folding mirrors installed in the car then all you need to do is code the door modules and get the folding mirror switch and it will work.

ok that elimiates some factors, so not all dumbos are power folding? where is the part no on them will take a look at them if they are or not

no not all dumbos are power folding, you need to get the power folding ones to get that function.

there are lots of part numbers available. what model car do you have? 3 door/sportback? also are you interested in auto dimming or does that not matter?

I have auto dimming mirror standard
5 DOOR
I put the dumbos on when i did my facelift conversion

Move the mirror downwards so the top has a gap, get behind with some fingers in the middle applying equal slow pressure to the rear plate & it will slowly prise away, be very careful as if you dont apply equally it will crack.

Hi Itwasntme, Just to confirm will the following doors modules support folding mirrors for pre-facelift as i currently have H versions. Looking at Etka it looks like the H versions have been replaced by the G versions.

8P0 959 801 G
8P0 959 802 G

I'm just collecting parts at the moment and have sourced the passenger side module so far.

@Ash187 Regarding your post, which is quite old now, I'm currently trying to swap the panels from 04-08 S-line model (with warning/puddle/handle lights) to my facelift 2009 A3 8PA.

In order to make this work, I also need to swap wires in 32-pin connector.

I've seen your scheme, but still cannot find a good guide where to put some wires, in which hole.

Do you have this scheme somewhere saved?

Just use elsawin & create a spreadsheet to show the moves as I advised on your other thread.
