SO So easy to use mate, I love it.

Genuinely doesnt smear up, Its like spraying water on your car which beads but you just wipe off with a towel. No staining no clouding nothing.
Shines up amazingly well. Also the Eurow towels are amazing i have around 9!

Get a little write up of your wash when you can look forward to your write ups mate
Thanks mate! Great news about the Hybrid V7. I foolishly bought some Megs NXT quick detail spray last time round and it just doesn't work for me, and worse on the black than on grey. Determined to give this car the best possible chance of a swirl free life!

haha me and my mate did the same!!

i bought the NXT Spray assuming this will be so easy to use as it states...Horrible stuff....

It dries and goes all cloudy, I used it very liberally and it was horrible. All white dust in the crevices and a total nightmare to remove. No idea how people use that stuff as some swear by it but i couldnt work with it all, Thought the product was poor and just messy.

A little tip with V7 - spray; wipe in with one cloth (I prefer the blue shag weave on a freshly detailed car) and wipe off with another. This way the one microfibre wont get saturated and leave any potential streaks.

Black light and V7 are brilliant together and I used V7 on my black S3 on top of Crystal Rock it looked awesome...had a copper come and visit and he said he'd never seen a car shine so much.

Just remember its not a drink!

I use it in that way aswell, Instead i use a premium microfibre but i use the flick of a wrist action on each panel, Wipe with premium microfibre carry on around the car panel by panel.

Then right at the end ill grab the eurow shagpile towel and give the car a full wipe over. It smells amazing aswell!

Is the v7 ok to use to remove dust and water marks between washes? What are the effects of applying it over wax, in my case collinite 845.

Some very quick photos of a quick clean. Started very late due to work commitments, so didn't finish the job today.

    1) Snow foam lance with Juicy snow foam

Now I'm too old to get hooked on hype, but the rumours are true and snow foaming is a properly fun way to clean the car! It just clings to the car and you can see the dirt being pulled away into the foam, especially around the rear arches and the back end of the car. It takes longer to set the jet wash up than it does to snow foam the car, and once it's done I left it to settle for a few minutes before jet washing it off.

Plenty of adjustment on the lance attachment, so was fiddling like a sex starved teenager.

Accentuates the front arch gap nicely! Glad that's getting sorted VERY soon!

    2) Juicy towel dry

After a quick 2 bucket wash wish some Megs Ultimate Car Wash I cracked out the Juicy drying towel. As it was a freeby I wasn't placing huge expectations on this, but I'm pleased to say its really good. If I'd actually paid money for it I wouldn't have been disappointed at all. Plenty of absorbancy despite the freezing cold air. Super soft so I'm confident the paint is safe! Did I mention that bloody front arch gap!?!?

    3) Chemical Guys Black Light
Now not only does this look good coming out of the tub, it sure smells like some serious gourmet sh1t and I kept getting the urge to dip my finger in it. Went on nice and easy with the foam mitt and there it stayed for 30 minutes before it was buffed off easily with the sumptuous Eurow shaggy pile cloths. They are something else.

    Results with black light

The light started to get a bit sh1t, so I thought I'd thrash a bit of V7 on the bonnet with a microfible cloth

The results are very good and there is a deep lustrous shine. Apologies the photos aren't the best, but they are taken with the wifes compact as my DSLR batteries weren't charged.

Once I get some time and some decent light on Saturday (said with fingers crossed), I'll finish the rest of the car, seal the wheels, seal the windscreen and finish off the trim etc.

On balance been happy with all the recommendations. They seem to work really well with the black paint and so far we seem to be remaining largely swirl free for the detail I'm going to get once winter is officially over!

That looks stunning man, snow foam is awesome stuff it gets rid of most of the stubborn crap so it doesn't get stuck to your wash mitt You should get some GTechniq C1 on that badboy asap to protect that gorgeous paint work!

Looking good Warren! If that's what your car looks like after a 'quick' wash, then I'd love to see it after a proper wash!

Also, I don't know if you've noticed, but there's a slight arch gap at the front lol Looking forward to the pics once you get that sorted! When you looking at going Stage 2+?

On the 3rd of March the monumental arch gap is being resolved by APS in Brackley (who have kindly offered to do a Saturday fix for me). Just been on the blower to Ed who is looking into the best solution, but car will be tracked and headlights adjusted to compensate ride height adjustment.

Stage 2+ will probably be coming at the end of May.

Going Stage 1 to 2+ in one lump at end of May.

Code, exhaust, subtle ITG CAI, HPFP internals, throttle body hose, catch can and spark plugs will all be changed in ine day! Hoping Revo can do it all with sourced labour. If I drive it with a level of respect it should see me through to March 2013 and the bonuspayment window (assuming we get one!)

Now let me think about that..... do I like cleaning cars.....no I hate it.....therefore unfortunately the answer is one word, two letters, starts with N and ends in O! How people make a hobby of doing it I will never know - it's good for clearing your head but its proper hard work!

    Quick couple of questions Warren...

1 - Black Light... is that a glaze similar to Poorboy's Black Hole?
    2 - What is V7?
3 - What do you use after a quick wash when you aint got time to top up your wax? I currently use a detailing spray while drying the car off.

    Cheers dude

Black light is a sealant not a glaze (glazes don't generally contain any protection element such as pb black hole)

Hybrid v7 is a spray sealant similar to a quick detailer however it contains a sealant as well to help top up your protection, therefore really good for you number 3 question. I'd use it once the car is dry though and it's excellent for getting rid of any water marks

My special scent....spray under the mats or in the air vents so the smell comes through when you have the air con on

What the hell is juicy virgin?

I am making do with a Magic Tree, even though they only seem to last 3 days, I am tempted to buy a few thousand from them and sell them in my store, which will pay for my own teehee.

Does anyone know if 19" rims from a TT RS will work on an A3 without rubbing? The TT rims are 19x9 unlike the RS3 's which are 19x8. The offset is et52.

    11) 5mm Rear Spacers

Somethings been eating me up ref: stance since fitting the new 19's. As I was passing through Gloucestershire yesterday lunchtime I decided to pay Forge a visit and see what their recommendations were to put things right.

I'm lowering the front in March so I don't fancy looking into spacers until I see how it's sitting.

In the end after plenty of deliberation we decided on the 5mm spacer for the rears (non hub centric). The reason for this was with the wider RS3 alloys
    (OEM RS3 rim 235/35/19 tyre on 8J ET50, standard S3 rim 225/40/18 7.5J ET56)
I couldn't run 11mm spacers as they'd been rubbing on the rears. By reducing the offset on the 11m spacers to 5mm it should just squeeze inside the arch without rubbing under every bloody compression.

Here is a 5mm spacer, and as it's thin enought to allow the wheel purchase on the OEM hub it has been designed with a 64mm internal aperture rather than 57.1mm hubcentric. This allows the spacer to clear the angled edge around the base of the wheel hub.

The easiest way to fit this as it doesn't sit square on the hub is to position your wheel on the jack about 5mm above road height. Then push 2 bolts through the wheel and push the spacer onto the back of the wheel. then push the wheel / spacer upto the hub and locate the 2 bolts. Saves any japery trying to get the spacer to stay fixed on the hub.

    a) 5mm spacer; it's thin

    b) In fact it's thinner than an iPhone 4

    3) It might be thin, but it's still phat!

    d) BEFORE SPACERS

    e) AFTER SPACERING (Subtle difference)

    f) You may think I'm a pedantic gheylord painting the hubs up, but check 'em after some winter salt; rust free (black spacer is the meat in the sandwich)!

    Badger 5
As the spacers were only 5mm it was debatable whether they needed longer bolts, but as I was passing Badger territory I popped in to see Bill Brockbank where I met our very own resident ASN moderator Byzan, and the charming Mrs. B. I had a quick brew and grabbed some slightly longer wheel bolts from Bill's stockpile. They look late 30mm's (poss about 38mm), and they work a treat without catching the ABS ring.

Be warned there is a strange line on the floor in that garage that must be one of these Gloucestershire druid laylines. Once I walked over it I managed to lose a bag of wheel spacers (which turned out to be in my pocket), and my wallet which ended up down the side of my drivers seat. I think Bill was just a magician and they were playing tricks on my mind, or there was something 'special' in that tea!

So now they're fitted, what's the scores on the door?
Like a chimp-witted imbecile I'd optimistically put the famous arch liner screw back in the arch after rocking the 19's, and not a single rub had been heard since fitting them. The missus was happy, I was quietly pleased and all was good in la la land.

Last night, first speed hump (sccccrppp), worse than before with 18" wheels on 11mm spacers..... Grrrrrrrrrrrr. No prizes for my first job at lunchtime today. Screw back out. Any after that..... Lump hammer!

For those who believe my car is always clean check out the road salt from yesterdays trip to Cheltenham / Gloucester. Snow foam to the rescue!

PS: DJSherif, post #194 please don't hesitate to start a new post for your wheel question in the 8P section, it's far more likely to be answered as a new thread rather than buried in someone elses build thread

That should be it now until March 3rd when we get low....

Hope so mate, still umming and arring about Eibach Pro fronts or VW racing all round.... Choices choices.

As an interim 'carry me over till March mod' I may look at a bit of front diffuser wrapping. Don't know whether to follow the RS's lead and go for alu as black or carbon could get lost on a black car. Alu could work with mirrors but I am concerned it could be way too contrasty.
