Being stuck in traffic jams is never good for your state of mind, and last night whilst trying to get out of Reading town centre I'm feeling mithered and generally ***** off, and the local VW dealers appears in front of me.
I sat there thinking of all the bulb changing I'd done in the last few weeks and thought to finish it off, maybe I should get a set of the silvered front indicator bulbs..... I'd mistakenly tried to order some from BMW in November (the PY24W SV model that looks identical until you tip it upside down and see the pin configuration is different). So after seeing in the LED thread that Paullie / EddyD had managed to identify the right bulbs it was time to check out whether they were any good.
PART NUMBER: WN 107 331 02 (PSY24W SV - 38J1 Car Bulb @ £19.14 + VAT each)
10 minutes later I was nearly £45 lighter in the pocket, and even the dealer admitted he couldn't believe how outrageously expensive the bulbs were and he was worried how they were going to justify that to people who just wanted to pay a couple of quid per bulb, not £23 each.
In case you think I'm making it up, here's the evidence (sorry, iPhone pics at night are not the best):
And to finish with another rant (after being fleeced proper good) the chump who invented the design for the bulb access point and mounting mechanism within the front light light cluster, you're an absolute monkey spanker; **** poor design!
I'll do some before and after shots once the car is clean.
On a better note, had an exceptionally good value LED interior light pack turn up from EM Tuning which cost half the price of the two bulbs above for all overhead light + glove box & boot light. Very nice kit, does what it says on the tin, and makes the car look much fresher inside. Nice one T8ups and co. We like!
Photos of bulb heaven to follow.
