Head Removal Keys - help!!!

I finally took delivery of the Head Unit Removal Keys that I ordered from the web a few weeks back. One side seems to unlock OK but the other doesn't. The key just slips back out of the slot with no result. I have tried wriggling it back and forth, tilting up and down, but nothing seems to work. I am loathe to keep trying this in case something gets damaged. Anyone have any sugestions? I am trying to hand mount my Denison ice->Link... Help!

Make sure that the slot on the key is facing the opposite way to the other one.

I think you are talking about the old keys for Audi head units. The new ones are identical and have a small cross shape on the end.

I had this same problem with the keys from VAG parts. The left hand key kept coming back out. I solved this by bending the key slightly along the length that goes in the slot. ( like a bow )

Ah yeah that's my problem - LH key keeps coming back out. RH key is fine, although my thumbs are still throbbing from all the pushing and shoving. Will try the bendy key trick and see how that goes. Thanks for the tip.
