I was just booting my 2005 Sportback (2.0tdi 140 Sport remapped to 180) up a dual carriageway, stretching third gear out, when there was a bang, loss of some power, and loads of white smoke billowing out of the back.

Pulled over just to check I wasn't on fire!

Anyone had anything similar? Is it an exhaust problem or a blown turbo or something?

Thanks

Cheers buddy - any idea how much a regular garage will charge to fix a new one?

Around 150 mark. Make sure you get the intercooler and pipework cleaned out. Might want to do an oil change too

150 your having a laugh that would be mates rates to supply and fit turbo i would think around 500 plus audi prices over a grand
check for boost pipe coming off and if you have to go new would go hybrid best thing ive ever done

How much would you be looking at to upgrade to a hybrid? what else is needed

£830 fitted with a reconditioned one a few year ago for me!

If the're 150 fitted i'll take 3 now to 'stock pile'.

Exact same thing happened to me.
The turbo blew and ripped the Boost pipe off, a big bang and loads of white smoke.

It cost me £850 for a reconditioned turbo and new boost pipe, inc fitting.
Bought the turbo from Midland Turbo

turbo techincs i got my hybrid from £550 trade

looking at £100 - £150 fitting

oil and gaskets aswell.

Can you just send your turbo to them in the post ? or you gotta get there. Might get mine done soon as I have the money

All checked. Turbo definitely blown. Confirmed by Mr RAC man. Done a cash deal with the garage for them to take it off my hands as was looking to sell anyway

AH well, life happens

midland turbos are very good to recon your old unit they will collect from you.

turbo techics will collect from you as well

as the turbo has gone, its a good excuse to go hybrid

He's said the car has gone lads, traded in for cash monies!!
