Wheel colour for standard sport alloys

Im getting my standard wheels painted as the paint has started flaking..
Has anyone gone away from the standard silver to a darker grey/black?

Would would look good on a Lava Grey 8P 3 dr..

If you go too grey with the wheels on lava grey it can look quite dull and flat. I had Dolphin Grey last car and when wheels were caked in brake dust and very grey the car looked awful. I went for a shadow chrome colour when I had the wheels refurbed and whilst not as standout as hypersilver they looked understated but smart enough (apologies, not the greatest photo but you get the idea):

Hmm yeah I do like that
perhaps just a slightly darker Silver, not grey/black is the way to go..

a good colour to use is ford machine silver its very slightly darker silver not a lot but enough more like the shadow chrome sort of colour as warren had on his old S3
