I have just noticed that I can leave my A3 dsg in R, switch her off remove the key lock and go. It wont start in gear but I dont think my last A3 lket me take the key out till it was in P. Is this right?
hmmm I think It shouldn't be this way. Mine only gives key back in P mode. Maybe the sensor which is responsible for detecting P position went? It should give error on dashboard though....
I've never tried to remove my key when in 'R', but it definitely doesn't let me remove it when in 'D' because once I sat in my car for about half an hour trying to prise my key out of the ignition before realising it wasn't in 'P'.
there is a electric lock in the keylock, only it's released when gear selector it's in P. to understand better how it works, search the internet for "self-study programme 308"
