Is it possible to have cruise control successfully fitted to a 3.2, to look and operate as factory install? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Has anyone looked into this and had it fitted?

AMD do this for about £300 I think. I know they do it for the diesel variants anyway. The 3.2 is fly by wire throttle so should be the same.

A3dude...

its easy as all the rest of the audi's and vw's

only thing i would say is shop around...

AMD are the most expensive ive found..

as theirs is £299 + vat where others tend to be alot cheaper...

I was wondering this as well as I retro fitted it to my R32. With the Audi don;t they install another stalk to control the cruise?

On the golf it's the same stalk as the indicators which looks the same as the Audi one, I was wondering if you could just fit a golf stalk...

Yeah, I'd be interested in this too. Not sure why Audi fit a third stalk on the new A3's if the Golf has it on the indicator like the old mk4 chassis cars??...

I have emailed AMD for details, if the dashboard or anything major has to be dismantled then it would put me off, i understand the steering wheel and column panels have to come out with a separate stalk installed, and they tap into the electrics somehow, but thats about all i know. I want a perfect job doing with no panel scratches/damage etc. , so i need to find someone who has already had it done. I may be wasting my time asking a main dealer to quote, but may as well to compare. Even main dealers are good at scratching/damaging interior panels.

Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For anyone interested Audi Dealer charges £350 + VAT

You can buy the mkV cruise stalk for about £46 so I may take the plunge and see whats involved. Fitting it to the mkIV was a doddle.

The guys back on e-bay at the moment. Buy it now for £68. Not bad for new cowel, stalk and electronic control unit.

Wonder How much Audi or a specialist would charge to fit it ?.

'We' (Dealer I work for) charge around £200 + VAT for the work. The new A3 uses the same Cruise control stalk as the B6/B7 A4, much better than the single stalk on previous models. The stand alone stalk gives you 2 more functions that it did previously.

The parts required are lower cowling, Cruise control stalk and new Steering wheel slip ring (unless the vehicle already has MFA). Then car needs to be told via 50-52 or VAGCOM that the vehicle has Cruise, and your away! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'd recommened Cruise control to anyone with a DBW Audi. Its probably the most sensible option you can specify on a car nowadays (my new Cupra TDi was ordered with it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif)

Ok point taken - must remember to take pictures when playing with my car for the benefit of others /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

What are these ?.

Also, £200 + VAT seems expensive, 2 - 3 hrs to fit ?, or is this including parts.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the total price including Parts and labour.

The stalk actually only has 1 additional function (my mistake) which is that you can lower the speed via the stalk, previously you could only up it.

£200 + VAT sounds good to me, My stealer wants £350 + VAT.

You'd need it enabled with VAGCOM or the VW diags at the dealer

As per my earlier link, I think this is the full kit. Other than activating via VAG Com or equiv.

Thanks a lot guys! Anyone know what a dealer charges to activate it?
