    WHAT TO DO???

Sold my bonnet in immaculate condition on ebay and the buyer has disputed saying that the bonnets damaged, the courier will accept no reliability over the damage due to no insurance on the part. The buyer has demanded a refund although he accepted the package and signed for it therefore agreeing on it's condition, who's in the wrong? I can't stress enough that the part was immaculate before delivery!

I think the problem is going to be that the part was sent without insurance.....was that at your instigation or the buyer's....if it was his, then it's his problem, whereas if you sent it without, you may end up having to refund the money....or risk telling him it was sold as is.

I have seen damage and there are two dents, there was no option of insurance on the part i chose by courier, i did not wish or advertise delivery we sorted that outside of the auction, i was more interested in collection.

Sounds like the courier may well have given it a good journey.....was the buyer aware that there was no insurance?

Agree with the comments above. If everything bar the sale was sorted outside of ebay, tell him to do one. As far as the ebay transaction went, it was as it should be, ie you sold it, he paid for it. Make sure you tell ebay that the delivery was sorted out seperate to the ebay listing.

    Yea what he said...

Was not listed as part of the eBay auction. If he wanted it delivered then he should have paid for insurance!

He should have checked the item before signing for it.

His problem if he didn't. He can go suck a lemon!

If he opens a dispute, tell eBay about all of this!!

usually yes but in this situation delivery is not included in the sale so the seller is not responsible for the transport of goods.

if anything, IF ebay does rule it in the buyers favour the seller should not be giving a full refund... perhaps a part refund as he did not arrange the courier (buyer cannot prove that the seller provided courier as its not listed in the sale)

also i am sure that the seller had pictures of the said item in a perfect condition that was also used when listing the item

The other thing you need to ask yourself is this the bonnet you shipped? Or has he taken his damaged bonnet off (with the dents) and now wants to send the dammed one back. I had the same with a hard disk but I noted down the serial number and it was on the image in the listing, I was able to prove this to eBay/paypal and the judgement was in my favour, and this was on a £25 drive.... There are plenty of scum who want something for nothing, and a lot hang around on eBay.

eBay will only find in favour of the buyer in a dispute like that. It's all they know! Do yourself a favour and refund the guy and move on. Galling as it may be, it will be less painful in the long run.

why give in to the prat? not like your going to loose anything more for trying? and besides its not like its something to loose sleep over??
i think you should carry on with the dispute and see where it goes, and like the OP said there isnt any point loosing money on Delivery charge!

more than anything its the principle of the matter... it was immaculate when it left the seller.... what happens after is not the sellers responsibility.

I had a thing like this a few years ago where i sold on eBay a perfectly good mobile that i only had a month brand new from t-mobile. I sent the phone special delivery guaranteed next day so no disputing that it was received and then a whole week later i get a message from the seller saying the phone doesn't work and is blocked!
long story short i disputed and proved to the Police (yes the idiot got the police involved) that i was the legal owner of the phone (he tried to make out it was a stolen phone) and i sold it perfectly fine. T-Mobile also confirmed that the phone was not blocked.

i didnt have to give a refund and the idiot had to deal with his mess.
