    Audi S3 8P Forge DV

Audi S3 8P Forge replacement DV valve,YES or NO and why?
Is it ok to mount it on stock car or rather stick to OEM one?

Hi there, if you already have the revision D diverter valve on your car (I believe this is fitted to all facelift models) then there is no need to change to the Forge item. I have heard that the Forge DV induces a 0.3 of a second lag on turbo spool up after gear changes, which may bother some people. If you have an older OEM DV fitted to your car, then it might be worth swapping to the revision D or Forge as failures in both of these are very uncommon. x

they upgraded the OEM item on later pre facelifts i beleive, someone else will no doubt confirm this..therefore there isnt really a need for the forge item on later cars

Hi ,yeah i have the old soft piston type in my facelift s3 58 plate (which help me just now as i have a cracked connecting flange), i also have the forge one which you can buy a service kit for it, for about 12 pounds an uprated the spring if needed...i think using the forge one and the revised d are only nesessary with running higher boost settings ,but the oem product old or new version are good for standard cars...

I would stick with a standard rev D one marra. Then no delay or excess noise and loooks stock under the bonnet

Me too, Buddy. I fitted the Forge one as I got it for a good price and wanted to see how it felt, but TBH I have noticed the slight lag for myself and think I'll pop the Rev D one back in soon. x

yup when i was looking Forge came on posting about the benefits, showing even the D type splitting, although from memory they said the newer part was a lot more resilient - spend ya money on a night out

As S says Buddy, you can go for either the Rev D or Forge, but in all honesty I'd advise you go for the Rev D as it's an OEM item that costs around a quarter of the Forge DV. There are lots of guys running Stage 2+ have been running them for tens of 1000's of miles without any issue whatsoever and best of all, no added lag, lol! x

so today i decided to swap DV, th Forge one with uprated spring for higher boost, with rev D OEM one, and now there is no lag but i think that with the Forge DV my car was going slightly better.

Hi guys,no need to open a new thread so.........
I need to know something,if anyone had that kind of a problems,...
I'm on stage stage 2+ currently and lately i hear alot of noises under the bonnet
and i'm preety sure that noise is from RevD blow off valve!
Is it possible that spring in RevD is not strong enough for my boost?

    Cheers guys!

    Tnx RS3-KEL!
    I also found this:
    http://gfb.com.au/tech/tech-articles...stems-solution

This seems to be the real deal for our modified engines,it's based on oem DV and it's even
far more reliable! Revision D can also be faulty as you know.
I think i will try this one!

I Have the DV+ and its brilliant! Never had a problem and the throttle response is a lot better. The Rev D is prone to leaking as its plastic, it can't seal on the aluminium face. The G is better at sealing as its a rubber diaphragm but they can split being rubber although they do take a while to fail, few years I'd say.

This makes no sense to me. The body of the Rev D is plastic but I'm pretty sure there's a rubber seal. Also, I don't know what the DV+ is but surely the rubber part doesn't mate to the mounting point directly, so how does that help?

There are a good chunk of people with Rev Ds fitted on here and I've seen no complaints against them. The DVs, not the people, they're a bunch of bumders.

i think he was saying about the piston not sealing it completely and leaking not the dv housing.
i've spend few hours last night reading about dv+ diverter. better throttle response sounds great for me.
my friend has one and since he's selling the car he'll borrow it to me so i can try it before buying it. i have spare old dv which will be body donor.
i'll fit it maybe over the weekend when i get back home.

The piston I'm referring to. It's plastic sealing on aluminium so it's never going to be a perfect seal an will leak boost. The rev G and older C have rubber diaphragms on the piston part and can seal against the aluminium.

have done loads of research about the various OEM DVs.
I understand that the fit and forget option is revision D but as the unit contains a piston, leakage can occur. The chaps at R-Tech suggested that the best OEM DV is revision G. It has a diaphragm and so cannot leak unless it is split. The revision G is about £41 whereas the revision D is over £60.
However, I have a GFB DV+ which takes the original electronics to actuate a piston in the unit. The additional benefit is that you do not loose as much boost in between gear shifts as some pressure is maintained in the intercooler due to the design of the unit. The vacuum operated forge DV does not actuate as quickly as the OEM/ DV+ electronics.
If you fancy a good read, here is a link to long thread. It does include responses from Brett, the GFB DV+ designer and it explains all about it.

Thanks for the info on this thread guys been very helpful

Just went and checked mine and its a revision C, mine is an 08 car so it looks like the D could have possibly started as standard on the 58 8P3 models... Anyway back to point! I'm only going top end stage 1 at the moment so do you recommend just going for the revision D for myself? I seen 1 here for £45...

    OEM 1.8T/2.0T/2.5T Upgraded Piston Diverter Valve 06H 145 710D - Valves - Engine - Parts

With only running high end stage 1, do you really feel theres justication shelling out extra for the DV+? considering my boost levels are way down on youse guys running stage 2+? ... I'm sure if I get to that stage I can always upgrade easily but do you guys think there will be any difference running Rev D and DV+ at stage 1?

If I was you I'd either get just a G and leave it at that.
Or buy the DV+ and use the solenoid (body part) off your C valve no need to buy a D and the DV+ you use the main part off your old valve.
The difference in boost between stage 1 and 2+ is not a lot, Mine only runs about 2-3psi more on 2+ over stage 1.

If yours is a manual you will benefit even more from the DV+ as it holds pressure in the system when changing gear so less lag when you get back on the throttle as the intercooler and pipe work will have some pressure still there so wont take as long to fill up and get you back on boost!

If you have a Rev D I would change it for a G or go for the DV+

When I fitted mine I went on a long journey the next day then when I came back and was around town I really noticed the difference I couldn't believe how much better it was. Throttle response and how eager it was to go again after easing off.
So things will only get better for you I'd say!
