    Quattro sline rear spacers

Hi guys, this is my first post

I have a 56 a3 2.0T quattro sline and I'm wanting to buy some wheel spacers for the rear, but can't find the right ones as I believe quattro Axles are different to non-quattro? I'm looking for about 15mm each side I've read h&r ones are popular. Any advice or sites anyone can suggest.

    Thanks alot :D

    Jake

ok well i had a look at mine today and theres no way it should rub with standard springs or even if it were 20mm lower. anyhow thanks for your advice

on another note, is it possible to get 45mm H&R springs for a 3 door 2.0T quattro? as i have searched everywhere.

Springs: Nope, 35mm springs is the lowest you can get from H&R but this will only give you a 10-15mm drop over factory anyway (S Line are lower from standard) try Nate for Vmaxx coilovers it's your next best option

thanks shane for clearing that up!

yeah ive been advised Vmaxx coilovers from dpm for 415 and 395 from somewhere else, should be quicker for me to fit the coilovers on the car compared to fitting new springs

Yeah it seems a few guys have done it, I am now going to go for either the Vmaxx 30-70mm setup £395 or the JOM 30-70mm setup £200 ( bit risky i say for long term use), from DPM hopefully they have given me some good advise. My 15mm spacers arrive tomorrow

It should look much better when ive got both the spacers and coilovers fitted :D

I've had JOMS and V Maxx. Build quality and feel on the road is far superior with the V maxx IMO

thanks for the comparison, i think i would always be worrying if i wasted money on a sh*t pair of coilovers when are they going to let me down sort of thing so Vmaxx is the way forward just got to find somewhere with a 4wheel alignment setup

Yea it will be as the cAr will not be in line any more so tracking is needed.

Just bought some VMaxx 45-70mm coilovers :D spoke to shop he said get all 4 spacers on and coilovers on and then come and we will do the alignment, gonna try my 15mm spacers tonight on the rear, if they are a bit much I'll turn them down 3mm on the lathe to 12mm and get some 10mm spacers for the front . Sorted

    What's your plan kalem?

same as you mate, was guna go for 8mm spacers front and 10mm rear, but starting to sway towards 10mm f and 12mm r with vmax coilovers, cars done about 60k so probably ready for new shocks anyway. my car needs spacers on the rear badly, wheels look like there of a pram under them archers.

Yea that's the one thing that got to me, love the car so much it just sits a bit high and not wide enough for me, but there's always a solution

Literally just got in from putting my 15mm rear spacers on. Went on fine and no rubbing loads of room, to be honest I thought they would make it wider but I think it will be just right once its lowered.

My forgesport 11mm front spacers and VMaxx coilovers arrive Monday looking forward to seeing the final result once I get them on.

Is your A3 a s-line or normal, and quattro?

Ok so ive got them on, yesterday was a horrid day for many reasons. I spent today trying my best to set the rear height of the car but doesnt seem to be going very well. Fronts were easy to adjust just get the wheels off and adjust the locking nuts there and then.

However the rears, i tried leaving the wheels on and doing it from underneath but the locking bolt ontop of the spring was just turning with the integrated top mount on the spring, so i took the wheels off one at a time and dropped the lower arm, took the spring out and adjusted the nut time after time to get it right, i kept thinking it was right and then i would drive out the garage and get out to lock up and one side was lower than it was a minute ago.

One thing i thought of, I saw a thread of Koni coilovers when the guy installed the rear shock he said he adjusted the dampening by pushing the shock all the way down and turning it left or right to feel a click to make it harder of softer? My question is after this essay, does this need to be done on vmaxx coilies for the rear shocks? maybe someone can help????

On a lighter note, my dad has hired out a 2011 Aston DBS for a week, it arrives tomorrow, pretty exited to say the least.

If you have the V Maxx with adjustable dampers, you'll have a little blue alu knob near the bottom with + & - that clicks to make it harder or softer.

And yeah height adjusting the rears is a bxxtch, the whole adjuster just spins.

Using spring compressors can make it an easier job than dropping the arm.

Wez, I'm not sure if they are adjustable dampers I don't think they are , yes the whole adjuster nut turns, highly annoying c got a 26mm gap on the rear adjuster sprig both sides, and the rear right is rubbing on severe bumps on the bolt holding the arch liner on. Think the adjuster only had about 10mm left that's why I thought the damper might be adjustable.Yes got pics just gotta find the time to put them on, will do soon having too much fun with the DBS at the moment, unbelievable car, revs to 8000. 6.0 V12 515bhp!! Think ive got it sorted now, had some trouble setting the rears up, thought it was the dampening but i called the place i got them they said they are not adjustable dampers, so i got it to max height on the adjustable nut on the rear, still rubbed over harsh bumps so i put it down to being the 15mm rear spacers. This morning i whipped the wheels off and got the spacers on the lathe, turned both spacers down to 12mm and got them back on the rear of the car, now its all good for now anyway.....

    Pics to follow.

a few more, sorry for the size issues's

here i put the top mount on the new shock, easy enough compared to the front shocks install. just drop the lower arm and pull the old shock and spring out and swop over.

that last pic of the car was after i finished putting them on and settled, but was far too low and scrubbed a bit as rear 15mm spacers were too wide so i turned them down to 12mm and raised the front and rear and its been fine for last few days scrub free

next week it will go in for 4 wheel alignment

below is pics of the rear after fitting and a pic of compressing the front left spring, turning the rear 15mm spacers down to 12mm and also a pic of the rear lower arm dropped to remove spring and old shock.

Just got back from autotechnica hull having 4 wheel alignment. It took 2 hours, alot of time to read fast audi mags, but he said the rears were 1.5degrees out so needed doing. So thats all good now might be able to lower it a bit more now he said as the camber was wrong.

I talked to him about a revo stg1 map as they are revo specialists, he was saying his wife has a tt with same engine as mine but FWD, and he did the map he couldnt belive the difference, makes the car much nicer to drive and faster obviously but as mine is 4WD it should put the power down much better, i got price of £598 which i dont know if is good or not. He quoted his previous A3 2.0T customers cars have reached 255-260bhp.....which is a hell of a difference from 200. what you think?

Car looks good! How much did the alignment cost mate?

My rears are -2 degrees camber but Ive left it as it looks good

I had a 225 TT before the A3, ST3 mapped to around 275bhp and it was awesome! Massive difference!

I need to get some proper pics of the car this week, but its much better to drive.
I'm gonna get it much lower now its all done and settled in.

I called audi for alignment, £105 however he said it could be more... autotechina hull took 2 hours as it's Quattro but they only charge £35 everytime.

That's interesting, mum has a 57 tt the 3.2 quattro with 250bhp, didn't seem that exiting or fast to be honest, but I quess that's a different kind of power with the v6 n/a.

I'm really thinking of the remap but it's ive just spent 600 on coilovers spacers and alignment it seems alot at the moment even though it's probably worth it.
