I would like to do this as my first mod but wondered if it is wise considering I am a complete novice or should I leave it to the experts?

I know it will need coding so will use my local VAG specialist but thought I could save on labour costs fitting it myself

Do you need to remove the steering wheel and airbag?

Car is a 60 plate 1.4 TFSI sport with multifunction and Bluetooth.
 
It's a fairly straight forward job; I did this myself a few weeks back

You do need to remove the steering wheel and airbag but again that's very easy.

Here's the guide I used along with help from JB0o who i purchased the Kit from; top guy and very helpful :)

You will need some torx bits to complete the job and an M12 spline bit to remove the steering wheel bolt although I used a Torx 55 bit to do that.

You based in Newcastle? Only 1.5 hour drive and well worth in for an expert!!Could give it a good test on the way home!
Could you advise of the cost for supply and fitting?
 
I'm not but I know someone who can who I trust, I will check 1st if I have any jobs up your way 1st if thats ok :)

I will have a chat with the others and see if we can arrange some sort of Group Buy how many could be done in one day?
 
That would depend on the cars, but see if you can get a number together & we'll go from there as we'd have to check the cars setup initially as some may need another module fitted.

Depends on what version of steering control module your car has. If it's a sportback 2006 onwards then the parts will cost about £90 -£100. You will then need to get the car re-coded with VCDS.

Thats not always the case though is it Mike (where you been hiding btw :) but allot of cars from that age have some of the right parts, but yes you'd need the right tools, coding cable, knowledge how to remove, refit & do the calibrations afterwards plus be able to fault find should there be an issue.

Urm thats strange as I checked my sent box & nothing in there, I'll have to compile it again, really sorry dont know whats happened here.

No probs mate, these forums do strange things lol. No rush as I'm in Greece till sunday eve :) also could you add a price for cruise fitted, it's a 57plate tdi 170 s line
 
Nige,

I'm in Edinburgh and was thinking about getting rear LED's for my 57 Sline SB. Think I need to get the Kufatec loom but if you could PM me your instal cost I'll let you know...

Not hiding buddy - just a bit disenchanted with the forum since the re-modelling and not interested in 'boy racer' type mods. Just liked to be able to help with parts etc but can't because I can't get ETKA (7.3) to work which ****** me off.

Hope all well with you and will be PM'ing soon for some help. May even phone !!!!
